The Material Coordinator provides operational, analytical, and training support for all Operating Materials & Supplies (OM&S) functions within the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP) system. This entry level role requires a strong working knowledge of OM&S processes, proficiency in Microsoft Office (2016 Navy standard), and the ability to communicate effectively with personnel across NSWC PCD. The specialist is responsible for data extraction, reporting, training support, user assistance, and documentation management to ensure accurate and efficient execution of the Navy OM&S program.
Responsibilities
- Extract and analyze data from NERP to produce accurate, detailed OM&S reports.
- Prepare monthly presentations and spreadsheets to communicate OM&S status to NSWC PCD leadership and staff.
- Monitor abnormal or trending OM&S conditions to support process analysis and improvement initiatives.
- Assist in developing, refining, and tailoring OM&S training for NSWC PCD personnel.
- Prepare OM&S training materials and support the delivery of training sessions.
- Provide OM&S user support to a diverse workforce, including scientists, engineers, logisticians, accountants, supply chain personnel, warehouse staff, and DLA personnel.
- Perform Quality Assurance checks to support Procurement Request (PR) creation and Key Supporting Documents (KSDs).
- Research and identify frustrated material—items received with missing or incorrect documentation—and determine ownership and financial accounting lines.
- Archive official records in accordance with SECNAV M‑5210.1 CH‑1 using the Navy’s prescribed records management system.
- Support the Customer Acquisition Group by:
- Creating Unique Material Masters and extensions.
- Preparing Requirement forms based on customer-provided information.
- Assisting customers in identifying OM&S and General Equipment using mandatory sources such as One Touch and Haystack.
Qualifications
- Must be US citizen able to pass a government background check and obtain a CUI prior to start.
- HS degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Navy standard version 2016.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both oral and written formats with personnel at all levels.
- Experience preparing reports, presentations, and documentation for management review.
- Familiarity with Navy OM&S processes, training development, and user support.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and support process improvement efforts.
- Experience performing Quality Assurance functions related to Procurement Requests and supporting documentation.
- Knowledge of Navy records management requirements and SECNAV M‑5210.1 CH‑1 a plus
- Ability to research and resolve issues related to frustrated material and material identification.
- Experience supporting acquisition-related tasks, including creation of Material Masters and Requirement forms.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, multi‑disciplinary environment.
- Prefer strong working knowledge of OM&S functions within the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP) system.
