Job Description:

This person will perform physical tasks to transport or store materials or merchandise. Duties involve one or more of the following: manually loading or unloading freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations; or transporting goods by hand truck, cart, or wheelbarrow. Excluded from this definition are workers whose primary function involves: Participating directly in the production of goods (e.g., moving items from one production station to another or placing them on or removing them from the production process); b. Stocking merchandise for sale. Counting or routing merchandise; Operating a crane or heavy-duty motorized vehicle such as forklift or truck; e. Loading and unloading ships (alongshore workers). Traveling on trucks beyond the establishments physical location to load or unload merchandise.

The Laborers shall perform warehouse services to include receiving property, moving property within the warehouse and between buildings, conducting inventories of equipment and property, preparing equipment and assets for shipping, moving furniture, supplies, and assets, and creating and updating moving inventories. The Contractor will be responsible for the documentation of any missing or lost freight that is signed for. The laborers shall perform the following tasks:


Responsibilities

  • Physical furniture/asset moves to and from the warehouse and between buildings and furniture disassembly and reassembly.
  • Keeping a log of various incoming and outgoing shipments and including shipping/receiving, carrier driver’s log sheet, single sheet delivery ticket that carrier driver shall retain.
  • Signing for shipments when required and inspecting for accuracy.
  • Inspecting shipments and unpacking.
  • Verifying and keeping records.
  • Prepare items for shipment.
  • Contact customer when shipment has arrived and prepare/arrange for delivery if required and requiring a signature upon receipt.

Qualifications

  • Responsible, and professional work ethic.
  • Possess skills to assemble and disassemble furniture consistent with the manufacturers requirements to prevent damage.
  • Possess skills to safely move equipment within office buildings.
  • As needed, possess required driver’s licenses for vehicles moving personnel or property.
  • Ability to operate hand trucks, pallet jackets, shrink wrap machine and forklift and maintain forklift certification.
  • Able to work occasional weekends and after hours when required.
