Job Description

The Materials Specialist – Inventory, Shipping & Receiving is responsible for the accurate handling, storage, movement, and documentation of turbine engine parts, tooling, and consumables in a regulated aviation environment. This role ensures material availability to support production schedules while maintaining strict compliance with FAA/EASA regulations, customer requirements, and company quality standards. The position plays a critical role in maintaining full traceability, inventory accuracy, and on-time engine deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Support shop floor material requests and kitting activities to meet production schedules and engine delivery commitments.
  • Move materials safely using appropriate material handling equipment and procedures.
  • Coordinate returns, repairs, and warranty shipments with vendors and customers to ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and receiving area at all times.
  • Receive, inspect, label, and store aircraft engine parts and materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/MRP systems and update transactions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure full traceability of parts and documentation in line with FAA, EASA, and AS9100 requirements.
  • Perform cycle counts and physical inventories, investigate discrepancies, and drive corrective actions.
  • Maintain proper storage conditions for serviceable, unserviceable, quarantine, and hazardous materials.
  • Process inbound and outbound shipments of turbine engines, engine modules, and components.
  • Verify parts, quantities, certifications, and documentation upon receipt to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare shipping paperwork, certifications, and packing in accordance with aviation and export requirements.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments with carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations, hazardous materials requirements, and customer shipping instructions.
  • Identify and escalate nonconforming material and documentation issues to the appropriate teams.
  • Support audits and inspections conducted by internal quality teams and regulatory authorities.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and security policies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years of experience in aerospace materials, inventory, or logistics, preferably in an MRO environment.
  • Experience handling aircraft or turbine engine parts with strict traceability requirements.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Quantum, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret aviation documentation including 8130-3 forms, Certificates of Conformance (C of C), and packing lists.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Effective organization and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with forklift or other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a safety-critical or highly regulated industry.
  • Background in inventory control, shipping and receiving, and material handling.
  • Hands-on experience using RF scanners for inventory transactions.
  • Familiarity with aviation quality standards such as FAA, EASA, and AS9100.
  • Understanding of ITAR/EAR export regulations and hazardous materials shipping requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production, quality, and logistics teams.
  • Reliable attendance, positive attitude, and strong performance to support transition from contract to hire.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and receiving environment that supports turbine engine maintenance and production activities. You will work primarily on-site, handling aircraft engine parts, tooling, and consumables using forklifts, RF scanners, and ERP/MRP systems. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities as business needs require. The work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching, as well as lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, with defined storage areas for serviceable, unserviceable, quarantine, and hazardous materials, and operates under strict safety, quality, and security policies typical of a regulated aviation environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
