Job Title: Plating Technician (Weekend Shift)
Job Description
The Weekend Plating Technician plays a key role in the plating shop, performing a variety of operational duties to support production and manufacturing. You work largely independently to set up and operate plating equipment, follow detailed work instructions, and ensure products meet quality and safety standards. In this role, you contribute to lean processes that drive cost reduction, profitable growth, and continuous improvement while delivering excellent internal and external customer service.
Responsibilities
- Study product and process documentation, parts lists, tools, and fixtures to prepare for each job and ensure you fully understand the required work.
- Set up and operate appropriate plating equipment, tanks, and fixtures to plate various components according to defined procedures and specifications.
- Review documentation and work instructions to ensure they align with engineering drawings and product requirements before work.
- Follow all instructions provided for daily and weekly tasks to maintain consistent production flow and meet deadlines.
- Record and document all assembly- and plating-related inspection and test results, as well as materials, parts, tools, and fixtures, in accordance with defined product and process specifications and assembly procedures.
- Perform all labor, parts, and related system transactions accurately and on time in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment by following all safety requirements and housekeeping standards.
- Move between different process areas throughout the shift to support production needs and maintain workflow.
- Use basic computer data entry skills to update records, log production information, and complete required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership, providing clear feedback on issues, progress, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to promote cost reduction, efficiency, and quality.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, staying on task and managing multiple priorities and deadlines during the weekend shift.
Essential Skills
- Ability to train on the main shift before transitioning to the weekend shift schedule of Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
- Comfort working with chemicals and strict adherence to all safety requirements and handling procedures.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate plating, documentation, and adherence to engineering and process specifications.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear feedback.
- Solid organizational skills to support product assembly, manufacturing, and accurate recordkeeping.
- Ability to stand on your feet for the full shift and move frequently between different process areas.
- Capability to work independently, stay focused, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines without constant supervision.
- Basic understanding of drawings and work instructions to interpret requirements for plating and assembly tasks.
- Basic computer data entry skills to accurately record production and quality information.

- Experience in production, general production, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience with plating processes and machine operation in a production setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with mechanical assembly and general assembly work in a manufacturing environment.

- Ability to follow detailed process documentation and standard operating procedures consistently.

Work Environment
This role is based in a plating shop within a production and manufacturing facility. You work primarily on the weekend shift, Friday through Sunday, from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, after completing training on the main shift. The environment involves working with plating equipment, tanks, fixtures, and chemicals, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures and proper handling. You spend most of the day on your feet, moving between different process areas and operating machinery. The workspace is maintained to be safe and clean in line with established policies and procedures, and you use computers for data entry and documentation as part of your daily tasks. The dress code typically requires appropriate industrial or manufacturing attire suitable for a chemical and production environment, along with any required personal protective equipment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melbourne, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
