Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Supplier professional is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting supplier audits, inspections, and quality assessments. This role ensures that suppliers maintain effective Quality Management Systems and comply with all contract, regulatory, and customer requirements. The position involves technical collaboration, training, and the resolution of quality issues to improve supplier performance, productivity, and compliance with ISO and AS standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct audits, inspections, and surveys to verify supplier compliance with quality systems, contracts, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and report on supplier quality performance and drive corrective actions when necessary
- Prepare, review, and maintain procurement quality procedures in accordance with customer and government standards
- Represent the company in all quality-related matters with suppliers
- Coordinate and deliver training programs related to supplier performance and the Quality System
- Provide technical expertise to internal teams, suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies
- Ensure supplier manufacturing processes and special processes meet applicable standards and contract requirements
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives and coach suppliers on best practices
- Conduct on-site audits and evaluations of supplier Quality Management Systems
- Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
Required Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100)
- Expertise in quality tools and root cause analysis methodologies
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T
- Skilled in direct supplier interaction, including resolving quality issues and quality approval processes
- Ability to manage quality concerns with professionalism and drive resolution
- Active U.S. passport required for travel
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred
- Experience in automotive or pharmaceutical industry environments is beneficial
Certifications (if any)
No specific certifications required, though ISO 9001/AS9100 auditor certification would be advantageous
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management (SCM) or Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA)
- At least 5 years focused specifically on Supplier Quality
