As a Senior Materials Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring production continuity and operational excellence across the value stream. This role goes beyond day-to-day execution, requiring advanced problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic planning to optimize material flow and inventory performance. You will serve as a key partner to operations, supply chain, and engineering, driving proactive solutions to complex material challenges.
What You Will Do
Lead material planning and execution activities across assigned value streams, ensuring on-time availability of materials to meet production schedules.
Serve as the primary escalation point for critical shortages, developing and executing recovery plans in partnership with operations, procurement, suppliers, and engineering.
Analyze material demand, backorder reports, and shortage drivers; create purchase orders and adjust material supply plans based on changing forecasts and usage.
Monitor demand signals, inventory levels, and capacity constraints to make proactive planning adjustments and recommend corrective actions to leadership.
Support daily production functions for your assigned value stream(s).
Attend daily Tier calls – ensure material shortage data is up-to-date and prepared for review with the value stream manager.
Collaborate with internal suppliers and stockroom to ensure parts are transferred, stocked, and issued to the floor on time.
Follow up on high-priority material shortages, escalate as needed.
Adjust Purchase Order quantities based on increased/decreased usage of materials.
Review and analyze stock levels for inter-company stock transfer requests – if approved, collaborate with stockroom to create delivery and transfer parts.
Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to the SIOP Manager to enhance forecast accuracy, optimize inventory strategy, and reduce shortages.
Partner with engineering to evaluate alternate materials, substitutions, or design changes when supply issues arise.
Request expedites from suppliers.
Identify and implement process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Qualifications You Must Have
Qualifications We Prefer
Working experience within a supply chain, materials planning, or similar role.
Working experience with SAP (or an equivalent MRP/ERP system), with ability to troubleshoot and optimize system usage.
Working experience with inventory management principles, supply chain strategy, and production scheduling.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
Experience creating and analyzing reports in Tableau or similar tools.
Track record of driving improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
