Shipping & Receiving Clerk – U.S. Army Equipment Turn-In Site (Contractor)
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for processing, tracking, and documenting the inbound and outbound movement of Army equipment and materiel at a contractor-managed turn-in site. This role ensures compliance with U.S. Army supply regulations, Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR), and contract requirements, while supporting accurate property accountability and efficient turn-in operations. The clerk works closely with warehouse, supply, and transportation personnel to ensure timely and accurate shipping and receiving activities.
Responsibilities
Receiving Operations
- Process and verify incoming equipment from Army units in accordance with AR 710-2, AR 735-5, and DA PAM 710-2-1.
- Match items to turn-in documentation (DA Form 1348-1A, DD Form 200, hand receipts) for accuracy and completeness.
- Update Army logistics systems (GCSS-Army, DPAS, or LMP) to reflect receipt transactions.
- Stage and transfer items to designated warehouse or yard locations.
Shipping Operations
- Prepare and process outbound shipments of Army equipment for transfer, redistribution, or disposal.
- Generate and review shipping documentation (DD Form 1348-1A, bills of lading, TCMDs, DD Form 1149).
- Coordinate with transportation teams for scheduling, loading, and dispatch of shipments.
- Verify load plans, ensure cargo is properly packaged, spaned, and secured.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate logs of all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Input transactions into Army-approved logistics and transportation systems (e.g., GCSS-Army, TC-AIMS II).
- File and maintain shipping, receiving, and discrepancy reports in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and government auditing standards.
Coordination & Customer Service
- Work with Army unit supply personnel to resolve documentation or shipment discrepancies.
- Coordinate with Supply Technicians, Material Coordinators, and Warehouse Specialists to ensure smooth equipment flow.
- Communicate shipment and receipt status to site supervisors and the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA, Army, and company safety procedures during loading, unloading, and material handling.
- Ensure compliance with HAZMAT packaging, labeling, and transportation regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe shipping/receiving work area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s in logistics or supply preferred.
- 2–4 years of shipping, receiving, or supply experience (military or contractor environment preferred).
- Familiarity with Army supply/transportation documentation and systems highly desirable.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Army regulations: AR 710-2, AR 735-5, DA PAM 710-2-1.
- Transportation documentation and standards: DTR 4500.9-R.
- Army systems: GCSS-Army, DPAS, LMP, TC-AIMS II.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other MHE (OF 346 license preferred).
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and correct documentation errors.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Must have a Real ID
- Must have a state of Texas drivers license w/proof of vehicle insurance
- Must be able to travel within the US when required
