Tooling Coordinator

The Tooling Coordinator, reporting to the Tooling Supervisor/ Manager, will be responsible for the support, management, and coordination of the Tooling Department as it relates to Tool Design, Fabrication, Inspection, Maintenance, Inventory, and Repair by managing schedules, workflows, processes, and procedures, and releasing Tool Work Orders/ RFQ’s.

  • The Tooling Coordinator will be responsible for leading TRB (Tool Review Board) and should have a high attention to detail and experience managing small to medium-sized project plans.

  • This role is highly visible and will lead meetings with supervisors, managers, senior managers, and directors, and must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently on the status of the projects while being confident in holding team members accountable.

  • Manage the Tooling packages after Tool Requests (TR’s) are generatedBacklog reports
  • Organize Tool Review Board (TRB) meetings to review all TR’s
  • Organize Tool Design Review (TDR) meetings to ensure tools are progressing through the process
  • Release Tool production work orders
  • Verify Tool RFQ’s are completed and ready for supplier quotations
  • Release Purchasing Requests (PR’s) to SCM for supplier RFQ’s
  • Coordinate RFQ responses and assist in determining final supplier selection
  • Working with SCM, track the progress of RFQ’s and final P.O. generation
  • Coordinate any TRB activities with outside suppliers to follow the Daher Tooling Manual tool flow processes
  • Ensure all Tool Design data packages are properly released into the Daher server system(s)
  • Assertions file preparation and review

  • Tooling Inventory - support the inventory, tracking, and dispositioning of Customer owned Tools
  • Using knowledge of “Best Practices” and “industry standards,” ensure tools are properly tracked, inventoried, and located through the ERP and PLM systems
  • Processes and Procedures - Using knowledge of “Best Practices” and “industry standards,” assist Production Engineering leadership developing the best AS9100 approved processes and procedures across the organization
  • Validate and hold accountable, the teams as tool packages move through the tooling workflows to ensure adherence to the Tooling Manual

Profile and other information related to the position

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or accredited GED
  • 7&43; years of demonstrated experience coordinating and managing a Tooling workflow process is required
  • Previous experience developing a Tooling program at a greenfield or brownfield start-up, and/ or revamping a Tooling program at an existing large aerospace structures manufacturer is highly preferred
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to create and manage project schedules is required; MS Project and/ or PMP certification is preferred
  • Experience using ERP and PLM software is required; SAP and Teamcenter Manufacturing, Bill of Process, etc. is preferred
  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently required to perform the job.
