PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Warehouse Specialist acts as the Furnishings Management Specialist and provides support for Furnishing Management IAW 32-6000 Department of Defense, Air Force, Major Command (MAJCOM) and provides guidance and coordination for these functions to ensure effective and economic operations of all support facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan. This incumbent may:

• Direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received.

• Verifies materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and/or damages.

• Manually loads and unloads furniture to and from designated areas. Storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.

• Operate hand or power trucks in performing warehouse duties.

• Simple furniture repairs

• Operates Forklift

• Occasionally performs routine custodial duties

• Receives, issues, stores, and delivers all government owned or purchased furnishings and appliances authorized for use in unaccompanied housing, fire department (upon request), and lodging facilities (upon request).

• Delivers, installs, connects, services and maintains serviceability of new or repaired appliances.

• Ensures furnishings/appliances are labeled and issued only to authorized personnel and maintained in the Enterprise Military Housing (eMH) or subsequent web based government approved system.

• Maintains back-up stock, warehouses, redistributes, repairs, and turns in furnishings/appliances.

• Performs annual inventory and assessment of warehouse stock; identifies items excess to the installation and report excesses to Project Manager.

• Coordinates with DRMO on all turn-in items and documentation.

• The Warehouse Specialist may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

• Communicate professionally and effectively with staff, and customers.

• Processes room assignments, scheduling, in-processing and inspections.

• Processes Basic allowance for housing (BAH) forms for processing of Basic Allowance upon assignment/termination of dormitory quarters.

• Other duties as assigned.

• Occasional on-call duties required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.

Job Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Ability to lift, stoop, bend, carry

• Self-Motivated, with the ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize.

• Beginner to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred

• Ability to enter data accurately into databases.

• Ability to understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to generate routine reports and correspondence

• Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members

• Ability to use general office equipment such as phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.

• Ability to follow instructions and generate suggestions for improving work flow; present ideas, and information and have the ability to ask for help when needed.

• Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.

• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; renegotiate deadlines, and have the capability to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 6-12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Ability to communicate using the English language.

• Must have a valid Driver’s License

• Must be able to pass a background check to obtain a base pass for the military base

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
