Job Description

This role focuses on heavy and line maintenance for ERJ 135/145 and CRJ 200 aircraft, ensuring all aircraft, engines, and components remain safe, airworthy, and compliant with all applicable specifications and procedures. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, diagnose and repair defects, document all work accurately, and support reliable operations for all incoming and departing flights during your shift at ORD.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy maintenance on ERJ 145 and CRJ 200 aircraft in accordance with all applicable manuals, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Maintain and repair a fleet of ERJ 135 and 145 aircraft, including aircraft structures, aircraft engines, and aircraft components to meet all required specifications.
  • Carry out daily scheduled and non‑scheduled inspections, maintenance, repairs, and alterations on assigned aircraft.
  • Perform line maintenance on all incoming and departing flights during the assigned shift at ORD, ensuring aircraft are released safely and on time.
  • Troubleshoot defective aircraft systems and components efficiently and accurately to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Document all maintenance procedures clearly and completely, including component damage, component origin, and the condition of components, parts, or equipment.
  • Follow and promote safety‑conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with operations, flight crews, and other maintenance personnel to minimize aircraft downtime and support on‑time performance.
  • Use appropriate tools, equipment, and technical data to perform maintenance tasks effectively and maintain high standards of workmanship.

Essential Skills

  • Active Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
  • At least 1 year of hands‑on maintenance experience on CRJ or ERJ aircraft.
  • Proven experience performing line maintenance on regional jets.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform heavy maintenance or C‑check level work on ERJ or CRJ aircraft.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on aircraft systems and components.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, maintenance documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Commitment to safety‑conscious behavior in all maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work overnight 12‑hour shifts in an outdoor ramp environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintenance records and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with ERJ 135/145 and CRJ 200 aircraft in a commercial or regional airline environment.
  • Experience in heavy maintenance, C‑checks, or similar deep inspections on regional jets.
  • Prior line maintenance experience at a busy airport environment such as ORD.
  • Demonstrated accountability, reliability, and strong work ethic, including consistently showing up prepared for shift work.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technicians, inspectors, and flight operations teams.
  • Comfort working in a smaller, fast‑growing organization with expanding airline and charter operations.

Work Environment

This position is based at ORD and involves primarily outdoor work performing line maintenance on the ramp in varying weather conditions. You will work with regional jet aircraft, including ERJ 135/145 and CRJ 200, using standard aircraft maintenance tools, equipment, and technical documentation. The schedule follows a rotating 4‑days‑on/3‑days‑off and 3‑days‑on/4‑days‑off pattern, with shifts running from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Typical patterns include Sunday–Tuesday with every other Saturday, and Wednesday–Friday with every other Saturday. The environment is fast‑paced and operationally focused, with close coordination among maintenance, operations, and flight crews to support safe and on‑time departures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00/hr.
