Job Description:
F.I.T. Aviation, Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech), has an immediate opportunity for an A&P Mechanic in a team-oriented and highly positive work environment.  
 
Nature of Work: Under the direction of a collaborative team of the Director of Maintenance and Assistant Director of Maintenance, the aircraft technicians responsible for inspecting, repairing, testing and maintaining airframe and powerplant components on fleet aircraft including other primary aircraft functions in accordance with standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Our new technician will be responsible for the maintenance and preventive maintenance of the fleet aircraft, components and equipment and will be responsible for approving the return to service of 50/100 hour inspections, major alterations and repairs.
 
A&P Primary Duties:
  • Taxi and run up aircraft
  • Perform 50/IOO Hour and Annual Inspections at required intervals on all fleet aircraft
  • Determine airworthiness of aircraft and components, IAW established procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and methods of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
  • May be required to work nights, weekends or go on A.O.G. trips
  • Perform additional functions which may be assigned from time to time
  • Assure completeness of all assign work documents and records and assist in the cleanup of the maintenance work area
Productivity/Performance:
  • Perform a minimum of eighty (80) hours per two week period
  • Coordinate all activities and complete all work required/assigned by D.O.M., Shift Supervisor
Supervision Received:
  • Minimal 
Knowledge. Skills and Abilities:
  • Skilled in conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Skilled in installing equipment, machines, wiring or programs to meet specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and methods of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Attention to detail and accuracy to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and regulations.
  • Able to exercise good judgment in working with people in a team environment as well as in aircraft maintenance and safety.
  • General knowledge of maintenance federal regulations.
  • Familiarity with G-1000 glass, Avidyne glass and round dial aircraft.      
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and interpret instructions and information using the English language.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as assigned.
Job Requirements:

Education/Special Training/Experience/Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience that enables one to perform the job functions.
  • Must hold a valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic license and have adequate training and professional experience.
  • Previous experience on GA Aircraft a plus.
  • Must possess basic hand tools
  • Current Inspection Authorization endorsement is a plus

Physical Demands: A&P technicians often stand, lie or kneel in awkward positions and occasionally must work in precarious positions.

  • Must be able to use ladders, work stands, jacks, etc. and be able to work on all areas of the aircraft that may require access during performance of duties.
  • Must be able to lift carry, or move aircraft components weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical requirements include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling.
  • Work is performed in the hanger, flight line or at remote locations under various weather conditions with elevated noise levels

Special Skills Required:

  • Must demonstrate the maturity, judgment and analytical ability to perform all aspects of aircraft maintenance and preventive maintenance on fleet/leaseback aircraft.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations as they relate to aircraft maintenance
Special Requirements: Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background investigation and motor vehicle report. Incumbent must maintain a valid Florida driver's license during his/her tenure with our organization.
Salary Range: $28-$32
