Job Description:

Functions as Instructor for Aviation Maintenance Officer Course (AMOC) under the direction of the Aviation Institute Senior Training Manager. Responsible for performing duties as an AMOC Instructor, conducting academic instruction and hands-on performance training and evaluations to ensure student proficiency and adherence to academic standards. Responsible for maintaining Individual Gradebook Folders.

  1. Duties/responsibilities:

  1. Prepare for and instruct, through traditional classroom, laboratory, clinical and distance education modes, in the discipline of Aviation Maintenance.

  2. Provide availability and accessibility to students for purpose of academic consulting and support, in a manner appropriate to meet student needs, through a combination of scheduled office hours, or other effective means of responsive and timely communication.

  3. Communicate expectations and establish clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include but not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process; evaluate student progress and provides clear, timely feedback.

  4. Participate in Division meetings, in-service training, curriculum development, academic consulting, workshops or seminars, or other activities within the scope of the position.

  5. Demonstrate that assigned students will be informed how behavior and performance will be assessed, receive timely and accurate feedback regarding performance, and any observed performance and behavioral problems are corrected promptly.

  6. Other duties as assigned and or directed by management.


  • B. Independence: Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods. Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.

    C. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.


    Job Requirements:



    1. Education Level: High School diploma required; Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance from an accredited institution or Army Aviation maintenance officer.

    2. Experience: Fifteen or more years of full-time work experience in the field of Aviation Maintenance, or five years of teaching experience in Aviation Maintenance. Military Aviator/Private Pilot.

    C. Specific knowledge, skill, and ability requirements: Aviation maintenance experience that includes a general knowledge of all aircraft systems, airframe, electrical, engine, etc. Depot level aviation maintenance experience. Avionics/navigation system maintenance experience. Ability to work and communicate effectively as a member of a team and with foreign students. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population. Development, evaluation and revision of training materials. Demonstrated involvement in process improvement, developing new processes and technology in the field. Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students and the Aviation Directorate at all times. Ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the Aviation Institute of Training. Possess a valid driver’s license. DD214 required for military experience. Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include medical, drug testing, background checks, etc.
