Job Description

Join our team as a Fuel Cell Mechanic, where you will perform essential functions such as the removal, installation, and inspection of fuel cells/bladders and the assembly and installation of components like fuel lines, hardware, and fittings on various aircraft. Your expertise will be pivotal in analyzing aircraft sealing, structural, and assembly drawings to detect and address seal level deficiencies, diagnose leak test results, and recommend corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform disassembly and teardown operations of aircraft fuel systems and related components.
  • Remove fuel cells and components from aircraft, following specific procedures and techniques.
  • Prepare cavities for installation of fuel cells and components.
  • Install fuel cells and components, adhering to specific procedures and techniques.
  • Use appropriate pressure test equipment and perform necessary repairs.
  • Check the condition of fuel cells for damage and inspect cavities for the condition of internal fittings.
  • Work from operation sheets, diagrams, blueprints, engineering orders, and mil-specs.
  • Maintain schedules and quality standards while ensuring work is complete and accurate.
  • Notify supervision of any malfunctions, defects, or damages to equipment, material, and products.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform assembly and disassembly operations on aircraft fuel systems and equipment in accordance with applicable directives.
  • Conduct operational checks of aircraft fuel systems and components, with or without production aids.
  • Assemble and test articles for use in system testing, development, and modification of aircraft.

Essential Skills

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in aircraft fuel systems and components overhaul.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, assembly drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to set up and use precision measuring instruments such as torque wrenches and gauges.
  • Experience with hand and pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to operate ground support equipment including hydraulic test carts and tow tractors.
  • Experience with fuel/defuel procedures and leak checking fuel systems.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and remove/install equipment from blueprints.
  • Capability to identify, clean, and treat different types of corrosion.
  • Effective communication skills for both oral and written interactions.
  • Ability to document maintenance and repair actions clearly.
  • Adherence to safety regulations and ability to perform duties on all shifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of shop mathematics and assembly methods.
  • Experience working from drawings, sketches, and sample parts.
  • Ability to order parts, tools, and materials as needed.

Work Environment

Work is conducted in an open-bay, non-climate controlled environment. Shifts include 1st Shift: Monday-Friday 5:30am-2:30pm and 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 2pm-10:30pm, with optional overtime. Employees will have the opportunity to expense $100 per year for steel-toed shoes. Candidates must be open to working any shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
