High School diploma/GED.
License/Certification:
- Federal Aviation Administration Aircraft Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
- Valid Ohio driver's license.
- Individuals will be subject to controlled substance/alcohol testing in positions where such is required by federal regulations.
Knowledge Of:
Safety practices, aircraft systems, aircraft airframe and powerplant troubleshooting techniques
Skill In:
- Mechanics, use and calibration of tools, troubleshooting techniques
- Operating ground equipment
Ability To:
- Understand aircraft mechanical systems
- Perform basic mathematics (e.g., add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and to calculate percentages)
- Read and comprehend a variety of written material
- Maintain accurate records
- Operate a computer for data entry/retrieval
- Demonstrate physical dexterity and lift 100 pounds
- Communicate effectively with others both verbally and in written format
- Demonstrate effective decision making skills which agree with established aircraft airframe and engine maintenance procedures and practices
Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:
Previous experience maintaining single and multi-engine general aviation aircraft preferred, but not required. Applicants holding a minimum Federal Aviation Administration Private Pilot Certificate are preferred, but not required.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Maintenance environment; exposed to dirt, grease, chemicals, fumes, loud noise, slippery surfaces, variable temperatures and weather conditions, potentially dangerous equipment (e.g., rack lift); requires considerable physical exertion to include frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds, extended periods of standing, bending, or assuming awkward positions; may work varied hours and shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays; may be called in to work in emergency situations; requires on- and off-campus travel.
