Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for an Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice—Avionics to join our team in Calgary, AB.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Qualified to perform electrical wire and system installation tasks under the supervision of a licensed Avionics Technician in a manufacturing production environment
  • Responsible for the assigned leader and have ability to take direction verbally and through printed media
  • Basic knowledge of Standard Wiring Practices and Avionics Systems allows you to accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, engineering orders, test documents, and manufacturer’s installation manuals.
  • Have a basic understanding of other aircraft systems, i.e. hydraulics, flight controls and major components
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair avionics systems and equipment, including communication, navigation, flight control, and entertainment systems
  • Repair, fabricate parts and components; fabricate per drawings and standard practices wire bundles and assemblies to include marking of wires, properly securing wires into bundles, and termination of wires into a variety of contacts and connectors
  • Perform system checks and inspections to ensure avionics systems are in compliance with industry and safety standards
  • Keep accurate records of all work performed and maintain inventory of tools and equipment
  • Maintain a clean work area and alert the leadership team of any safety concerns; take immediate action or report immediately any unsafe conditions
  • Responsible for ensuring both accuracy and traceability of parts removed or installed on Aircraft
  • Perform other work as assigned and be willing to work shift work
  • Properly utilize Avionics test equipment to perform systems tests. Properly utilize and maintain Avionics hand tools to perform installations and repairs
  • Safely operate ground support equipment, i.e. Power carts, lifts (when properly trained), etc. as required

Education & Experience

  • Hold or work towards a current AME “E” Transport Canada license or related experience
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Internet
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with all De Havilland Aircraft of Canada products and their avionics suite is considered an asset
  • Experience with all De Havilland Aircraft of Canada products and their wiring installations considered an asset
  • Have experience with general aircraft wiring repair, fabrication and installation
  • Possess knowledge expected of an Aircraft Avionics and Electronics Technician on aircraft types handled by the Company
    Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to acquire a Transport Canada-issued Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
