What is the position: The Aircraft Maintenance Technician inspects mechanical, hydraulic, and structural systems and diagnoses malfunctions. Aircraft maintenance technicians also ensure compliance with aviation safety rules and regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Perform maintenance work on company Embraer ERJ-145 and other aircraft that may be added to our fleet, at our maintenance bases including but not limited to dismantling, overhauling repairing, assembling all aircraft parts and components.
- Perform routine releases returning aircraft to service.
- Complete all necessary paperwork in accordance with company, manufacturer, and FAA requirements.
- Maintain work area, tools, and vehicles in clean and safe working conditions.
- Collaborate with appropriate Inspection personnel (RII)
- Ensure hazardous materials storage is frequently inspected and ensure proper labeling, containers, and location in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of all positions at CommuteAir.
- Other duties as assigned.
General requirements & qualifications
- Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate. Continue training as needed to maintain certification.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license
- Good communication skills (verbal, written, and radio)
- Positive attitude towards productivity, safety, and quality maintenance
- Available to work shifts and overtime as necessary.
- Must have own set of tools.
- Organized with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities regularly.
- Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language.
- Legally authorized to work in the USA.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 20 lbs. of force regularly to move objects.
- Ability to safely drive tugs, trucks and hangar equipment, taxi aircraft, alert to moving vehicles and aircraft in the work area.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and maneuver up to 50 lbs. regularly, bend, stoop, crawl, crouch, and kneel frequently, and often in confined spaces.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to hear instructions orally, in loud environments, and the ability to detect fine differences in sound that may or may not affect the repair or operation of aircraft.
- Ability and willingness to wear personal protection equipment when necessary.

Visual Acuity
Machine Operators and visual inspection includes office administrative functions:
Includes inspection, close assembly, clerical administrative; This is a minimal standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, computer, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines using measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts with or without corrective lenses.
Environmental Conditions:
- Depending on work location, may be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions including, extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour and/or extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for extended periods.
- High noise levels, which may require PPE.
- Vibration: exposure to oscillation movements of extremities or the whole body.
- Hazard awareness: including proximity to moving parts, electrical current, working on ladders; exposure to chemicals and power equipment.
- Atmospheric conditions: including the possibility of conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or working in areas with poor ventilation for more than a few minutes.
- Oils: there is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other fluids
- The worker may be required to wear a respirator at times.
