Seeking 787 experience.
The Aircraft Mechanic assembles, disassembles, repairs, and modifies aerospace vehicle systems and components with a strong emphasis on structural integrity and flightworthiness. This role requires hands-on experience with structural repair, aircraft systems troubleshooting, and technical documentation, as well as the ability to interpret engineering data and perform precise mechanical work on P-8 aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
Structural & Mechanical Maintenance
- Assemble, disassemble, modify, and upgrade aircraft systems by changing, removing, replacing, or enhancing aerospace vehicle components.
- Perform structural repairs using knowledge of fatigue, corrosion, stress analysis, material strength, and repair techniques.
- Conduct aircraft overhaul, nondestructive inspection (NDI), corrosion control, and composite repairs..
Aircraft Systems Expertise
- Maintain and repair aircraft structural components and systems including:
- Flight controls
- Engines
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Fuel systems
- Mechanical components
- Apply advanced technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose malfunctions and restore full functionality.
Technical Execution
- Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and manufacturers’ manuals.
- Utilize specialized aircraft tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, test equipment, and sheet metal brakes/shears.
- Ensure all work meets flightworthiness, safety, regulatory, and contractual standards.
Documentation & Compliance
- Document repairs, inspections, test results, and modifications according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Make accurate entries into aircraft logs and records as needed.
Team Support & Leadership
- Receive technical guidance from supervisors or senior technicians when necessary.
- Occasionally lead small teams to complete complex aircraft maintenance tasks.
- Prioritize workload to support program deadlines and assigned project schedules.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Hands-on P-8 aircraft experience
- Thorough understanding of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting and repair procedures
- Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modifications
- Basic understanding of electrical theory
- Working knowledge of aircraft technical publications and documentation standards
- Proficiency with aircraft tools, gauges, and test equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Military or commercial aviation maintenance experience
- Boeing 737 platform experience
- Experience supporting high-tempo aviation operations
- Familiarity with advanced NDI or composite repair techniques
