Description:The Aircraft Mechanic III troubleshoots malfunctions in landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand and power tools. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. This mechanic performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections. Work involves: replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair.
Basic Qualifications:
• Prior experience with mechanical / mechanic assembly
• Experience with using blueprints, measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers
• General measuring and inspection experience
• Experience with using hand tools and/or specialty equipment (i.e. drills, reamers, countersinks, hot dimpler, etc.)
• Experience with measuring devices, dial calipers, MIC scales, etc.
• Experience in a Mechanical / manufacturing / production environment where the employees will have gained general production knowledge and/or mechanical aptitude. Assembly or repair experience in the military.
• Structural assembly
• Riveting experience
• Helicoil insertion
• Applicant must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules and status on assigned projects
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. DoD Secret level clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship

• The incumbent applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex and difficult problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents
• The incumbent shall be able to perform complex tasks with minimal to no oversight. Receiving technical guidance, as necessary, from supervisor or engineer
• The incumbent must be able to assist in performing structural and/or mechanical modifications and repairs
• Technical training, apprenticeship, more than 5 years experience in general/precision assembly techniques
• Set-up and layout that would be typical of an assembler having 5 years of experience or more in assembly related work

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
