TASK DESCRIPTION:

 

Aircraft Mechanic I (23021): Aircraft Mechanics I must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers and airlines maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technical proficiency is not required.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

FEDS Operator:


- One Aircraft Mechanic Level I shall have Engine/Flexible Engine Diagnostic System (FEDS) Operators experience and function as a FEDS operator. Perform Diagnostic Test and repair on GE 700 Series and T55 series engines, engines in the US Army rotary ACFT inventory utilizing FEDS and all technical references. Perform all phases of acceptance testing of turbine engines to include components. Certify test results IAW engine performance technical manuals. Perform scheduled inspections, services, repairs, modifications and troubleshooting of the FEDS system when required. Maintain all safety & health requirements, Track and maintain operational, assist in Calibration/Correlation of FEDS and order all required components to maintain FEDS serviceable. Maintain data sheets and other required forms and correspondence for maintenance and calibration of the FEDS. Provide a range of reports required by facility, NGB and or Redstone/AMCOM regarding Engine performance, Maintenance requirements, Engines complete, and other reports as needed.

 

- All Aircraft Mechanic Is must have Aviation Mechanic Experience and not just general maintenance experience.

 

TASK REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Troubleshoot malfunctions in anti-icing, pneumatic, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  2. Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components/sub components to include rigging of flight controls and engine controls.
  3. Read and interpret manufacturers maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  4. Perform phase, scheduled, unscheduled, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
  5. Perform preflight, thru flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, launch and recover aircraft, and Preventive Maintenance Daily Inspections.
  6. Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
  7. Perform other tasks as directed.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. H-60, H-64, H-47 or H-72 experience.
  2. Strong T-700 and/or T-55 Engine background.
  3. Five or more years’ rotary wing experience.
  4. Familiarity and ability to use military tech manuals.
  5. Familiarity and ability to use Standard Army Management Information Systems i.e.  ULLS-A (E).

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a graduate of one of the following Military Aviation Engine Qualification Course or civilian equivalent.
  2. Must have three years of rotary wing experience.
  3. Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedule as required.
  4. Must be able work flexible work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Tues-Sat, Sun-Thur, or as required.
  5. Must be able to pass a background check.
  6. Must be able to obtain favorable National Agency Check.
  7. Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
  8. Must be able to use hand and power tools.
  9. Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
  10. Must have own tools.
  11. Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.
  12. Tool box must be complete, shadowed with contrasting background and marked as a pre-employment requirement.

 

Compensation

$33.73/hour

 

Other Compensation

Employees who opt out of health insurance coverage receive $50.00 on a bi-weekly basis.

Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and life insurance at 1x base salary. Employees are able to enroll in KAI’s 401k plan.  Employees accrue 4.62 hours of PTO per pay period. KAI employees at the Army National Guard Base in Fresno, CA receive 11 paid holidays.

 

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
