Summary

Provides support of Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot (OID) level maintenance functions to facilitate comprehensive aviation maintenance in support of B-1B maintenance at Dyess AFB in accordance with Air Force Aviation Maintenance Programs, applicable technical data, and federal contract requirements.

Mid-level aircraft mechanic specializing in hydraulic and pneudraulic systems supporting B-1B OID maintenance operations.

Essential Functions

  • 800-hour, 400-hour, and 200-hour Phase Inspections; Hourly Post Flight Inspections (HPOs); Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs); One Time Inspections (OTIs); and Time Change Item (TCI) replacement.
  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance including repair of delayed discrepancies on B-1 aircraft hydraulic, pneudraulic, flight control, landing gear, structural, avionics, electrical, and propulsion systems.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneudraulic malfunctions to identify failed systems and components and restore proper aircraft operation.
  • Perform operational checks including landing gear extension and retraction checks, flight control rigging, and cabin pressurization system checks.
  • Install Depot-level TCTOs, T1, and T2 modifications.
  • Inspect, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft hydraulic and pneudraulic components and related subsystems.
  • Aircraft wash and corrosion control operations on B-1 aircraft structural, avionics, hydraulic, electrical, and propulsion systems.
  • Provide flight line operations support including aircraft tows, pre/post-flights, aircraft servicing, engine runs, and flight line support.
  • Compliance with applicable aircraft technical data (Work Cards, Job Guides, Technical Orders, etc.) and other pertinent instructions including Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs) and local MXG instructions.
  • Correct utilization of all applicable technical documentation in the performance of all tasks and documentation of discrepancies, parts ordered, and maintenance completed in Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS).
  • Troubleshoot, remove/install, and transport classified Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and components in accordance with established procedures.

Duties

  • Perform complex aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of hydraulic and pneudraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in hydraulic, pneumatic, landing gear, flight control, ventilation, heating, and powerplant-related systems.
  • Perform inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, modification, assembly, and operational checks of aircraft systems and components.
  • Inspect, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components and subcomponents, including flight control rigging.
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineering drawings, technical data, and directives.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and other specialized aircraft maintenance tools.
  • Perform support equipment (SE) operation and inspections.
  • Conduct confined space operations, including fuel cell entry when required.
  • Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply systems.
  • Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to support mission readiness requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Tool Control, FOD, safety, and quality assurance programs.
  • Document maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved maintenance systems.
  • May lead and provide technical guidance to lower-level mechanics.
  • Perform housekeeping and maintain a clean, safe, and FOD-free work environment.
  • Perform shift work, overtime, and deployment support as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • FAA A&P certificate or military equivalent, 3–5 years of aviation maintenance experience, ability to perform depot-level maintenance, and completion of military aircraft familiarization training.
  • Thorough knowledge of hydraulic and pneudraulic systems troubleshooting, repair procedures, and component replacement.
  • Working knowledge of Air Force maintenance programs, technical directives, maintenance publications, and supply procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft systems and perform Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot-level maintenance.
  • 4+ years B-1B or similar aircraft maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work day, swing, or mid shift as required.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • CAC eligibility required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing and walking for extended periods, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and vision to use tools and inspect aircraft systems. Must be able to work in high-noise environments, wear required PPE, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Compensation

  • $40.67/hour

Employees who opt out of group health insurance receive $1.50/hour paid up to 40 hours per week. Employees have a minimum of eleven paid holidays. Vacation/PTO IAW with applicable collective bargaining agreement.
