Amentum is hiring a qualified Aircraft Mechanic II / Corrosion Specialist in support of Kadena Air Base, 18th EMS.
Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to identify and effectively repair corrosion related discrepancies. These include aircraft assigned weapon systems and ground equipment that involve aircraft interior/exterior assemblies, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, aerospace ground equipment, and additional on/off equipment parts required to meet the assigned missions. Make repairs to aircraft and follow direction of higher graded Mechanics and Supervisors. This Aircraft Mechanic II position is a supervisory role that works with a small team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Must be able to troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills. This mechanic reads and interprets manufacturer and weapon system maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, aircraft skins and adjoining fasteners using manlift hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective parts. Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related to disciplines. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technical proficiency is not required.
PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIROMENT:
Requires shift work and a diversity of working conditions that may range from standard shop type
environment where there may be no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement
weather may subject individuals to severe changes in temperature, direct sunlight, heat, wind, rain, etc.
Will be required to work where high noise hazards are present. Will be required to wear protective
clothing and other safety equipment during periods of extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on the
Material Safety Data Sheets, working on or around aircraft and machinery. Aircraft flight line,
hangars, and maintenance shops. Able to physically operate aircraft ground servicing equipment
including vehicles, tugs, aerial manlifts to reach high areas, tractors, and high-pressure soap and water systems.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. (Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance.)
Must be able to meet SOFA requirements outlined in USFJI 64-100 regarding citizenship.
May be required to complete a SF-85/86 in EQIP as required to maintain possession of a CAC card. Unfavorable background checks may result in termination if determination is made you are not eligible for a CAC card.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Three (3) years Aviation maintenance experience.
Minimum of four years total and two years recent (within 4 years of task order PoP start) in USAF aircraft maintenance support as a corrosion mechanic with supervisory training.
The Contractor shall have the skill to remove and replace HH-60, F-15, MC-130 & KC-135 aircraft parts and accessories/components and the skill to make adjustments and assign tasks according to established specifications.
Experience in performing or supervising functions such as fabricating, repairing, assembling, or installing aircraft metals, plastics, fiberglass, composites; or corrosion identification, removal, and applying coatings and markings is highly desirable.
Must be able to work all assigned shifts & schedules.
Must have a US Passport.
Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
