Role Summary
* In this role, you will perform structural maintenance, repairs, and modifications in support of the organization’s F/A-18 program. You will apply your expertise in heavy aircraft structures, precision drilling, blueprint interpretation, and tooling operations to support safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes. You will work in a dynamic environment requiring strong technical judgment, adherence to established processes, and the ability to support variable shift needs based on operational demand. Education & Job Requirements You must have:
* High school diploma or GED.
* A minimum of 4 years of experience working with non-porous metals, including aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
* A minimum of 4 years of experience reading schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.
* A minimum of 4 years of experience using structural hand tools such as drills (45° and 90°), pancake adapters, countersink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns.
* A minimum of 4 years of experience performing heavy structures work, including locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening structural components.
* Ability to work variable shifts, including potential overtime, weekends, and holidays.
* Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 35 lbs, and meet all physical requirements of the role.
* Ability to work on elevated platforms and use personal protective equipment.
* Ability to pass training assessments required by the employer.
* Ability to interpret written and verbal instructions.
* Ability to handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
* Ability to comply with all safety, FOD, and tool-control requirements. Preferred Skills You will have:
* Experience performing heavy maintenance on the F/A-18 platform or similar depot-level military aircraft.
* Experience working with titanium aircraft structures. Job Duties / Functions You will:
* Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture-critical areas.
* Locate blind holes and prepare structures for the installation of new components.
* Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation tasks following standard repair processes.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, retrofit specifications, and technical orders.
* Use tooling assemblies, fixtures, and aircraft jigs to support depot-level structural repair.
* Troubleshoot mechanical and structural systems and restore components to serviceable condition.
* Use aircraft-specific tooling such as torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, and sheet-metal brakes and shears.
* Access aircraft data systems and enter part requests, discrepancies, and documentation as required.
* Support team operations and assist other mechanics to meet schedule and cost objectives.
* Meet all physical requirements, including climbing, lifting, crawling, bending, and working in confined spaces.
* Comply with all safety procedures, hazardous energy controls, and lockout/tagout requirements.
* Maintain required certifications and participate in required training.
* Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance as required by the employer.
