Job Description:

As an aircraft powerplant mechanic III, candidate will be responsible to perform a variety of maintenance and servicing actions to aircraft that may include various complex components such as engines, propeller systems, and controlling systems. Primary control systems can include cable, hydraulic and pneumatic operated systems. Candidate will support live testing of engines and propellers, flight line servicing, towing, and delivery of aircraft.

Duties:

  • Perform complex removals, dis-assembly, assembly, installation, repair, and testing of various F/A-18 engines, and associated components.
  • Perform detailed engine and other aircraft maintenance actions, including preservation and storage.
  • Read and interpret service guidance such as job guides or engineering drawings to provide technical input for the developmental process of work instructions and processes as required.
  • Independently work from service guidance or engineering drawings with limited to no supervision.
  • Assist modification team leads as required and provide technical direction, training, and guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Work as a Team Leader supporting workflow and task assignments when required by supervision.
  • Use a large array of complex hand, pneumatic, and power tools safely and efficiently as well as overhead hoists, forklifts, and common ground support equipment, i.e., GPU, Tow Tractors, etc.
  • Perform in process inspections of assemblies and completed installations.
  • Perform Foreign Object & Debris inspections or "Clean as you go" after task completion.
  • Other Duties may be required as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or graduate equivalency
  • Associates Degree or Graduate of a technical school is preferred
  • Prior formal training, military or commercial, with ability to provide documented evidence preferred
  • Previously qualified as Navy Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) preferred
  • Previously qualified as F/A-18 E/F/G Taxi/Turn Operator
  • A&P license is preferred
  • Foreign Object & Debris (FOD) mitigation experience
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in demonstrating installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance/repair of engine and turboprop components on aircraft

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Proficiency in the use of calibrated tooling, measuring tools, and test equipment
  • Pre-flight, thru-flight, and post flight maintenance inspection experience
