Hours of Operation:

  • Day shift: Mon-Fri; 0700-1600
  • Swing Shift: Mon-Fri; 1500-2400
  • Mid Shift: Sun-Thurs; 2300-0800

Aircraft Mechanic III (Sheet Metal) WG-3806 equivalent

  • Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance.
  • Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported.
  • Capable of performing, supervising, and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs.
  • A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
  • Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of noncomplex electrical systems.
  • A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required.
  • Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
  • This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
  • Plans lay outs, fabrications, modifications, repairs, assemblies, and installations of complex aircraft sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies that have combined straight and curved edges, and irregular angles, curves, planes and trained to perform tasks normally associated with Metals Tech.
  • Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, WCDs, work orders, and PAC in manufacturing aircraft sheet metal structures.
  • Examines and evaluates damage to aircraft sheet metal structures to locate cracks, breaks, holes, bulges, dents, and loose or missing rivets.
  • Determines the type and extent of repairs needed to restore original strength to aircraft components.
  • Applies principles of radial-line development combined with parallel-line development to devise and calculate patterns for complex structures.
  • Determines dimensions, angles, contours, and types of attaching hardware.
  • Makes general repairs by manufacturing and installing new parts and reinforcing, patching, and replacing defective parts.
  • Applies accurate riveting, soldering, and techniques for proper spacing, fit, durability, structural soundness, and appearance.
  • Spot treat corrosion by performing paint touch ups to related surfaces as required.”
  • Perform Roll and Lift Spoiler hinge lobe micrometer wear check.
  • Remove/reinstall, and/or re-stake elevator and rudder bearings with equipment and tools provided.
  • Remove and Replace Sump Tank Helicoils with equipment and tools provided.

WAGE: $41.98
Additional Rate: Health and welfare of $6.50 for each hour worked to be used for medical expenses/health benefits, any unused funds will roll over into a 401k at the end of the year.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 Years on platform is preferred, and/or 3 years in AMIII career field.
  • Authorized to clear Red X primary system.
  • Authorized to accomplish in-progress inspections (IPI) primary system.
  • Authorized to remove warning/danger tags.
  • Authorized to sign condition tags.
  • 6 of 6 personnel Authorized to verify Not Repairable This Station (NRTS).
  • 1 of 6 personnel Authorized tow vehicle operator.
