Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic
Job DescriptionThis role focuses on hands-on fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of composite and metallic aircraft structures in a high-reliability aerospace environment. You will work with advanced materials, precision tools, and multiple fastener systems to support complex aircraft builds while maintaining strict safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The position is onsite on a 4/10 schedule and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge work in the space sector.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble composite parts and assemblies of varying size and complexity in accordance with detailed work instructions.
- Perform hands-on aircraft manufacturing and assembly on composite and metallic airframes.
- Safely and accurately operate shop tools and machinery, including drills, die grinders, calipers, and related equipment.
- Drill precise hole patterns in composite and metal structures, including composite/metal stack-ups, while maintaining tight tolerances.
- Install and work with multiple fastener types, including Hi-Lite, Hi-Lok, and Composi-Lok, ensuring proper torque and installation quality.
- Work with MS flareless fittings and standard O-rings, ensuring proper fit, sealing, and system integrity.
- Read, interpret, and follow drawings, blueprints, digital models, and manufacturing work instructions to complete complex builds.
- Use computer applications to access and follow manufacturing work instructions and documentation.
- Adhere strictly to assembly instructions and process guidelines to ensure accurate and repeatable completion of complex assemblies.
- Maintain a strong safety culture, including FOD (Foreign Object Debris) awareness, housekeeping, tool control, and regulatory compliance.
- Handle hazardous materials safely and in accordance with established procedures and PPE requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with team leadership and cross-functional teams to achieve production goals and complete assigned tasks.
- Support troubleshooting and repair activities as needed on aircraft structures and systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by following lean manufacturing principles where applicable and supporting efficient workflow.
- Meet performance, quality, and attendance expectations to support the potential transition from contract to permanent employment.
Essential Skills- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience as a technician in aerospace or a comparable high-reliability industry.
- Experience in aircraft fabrication and assembly or equivalent hands-on aircraft maintenance work.
- Proficiency operating shop tools and machinery such as drills, die grinders, and calipers.
- Ability to drill precise hole patterns in composite and metal structures, including composite/metal stack-ups.
- Experience installing and working with multiple fastener types, including Hi-Lite, Hi-Lok, and Composi-Lok.
- Ability to work with MS flareless fittings and standard O-rings.
- Ability to use computer applications to follow and document manufacturing work instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and digital models for aircraft structures and assemblies.
- Strong safety focus, including FOD awareness, housekeeping, tool control, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a production team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required for handling parts, tooling, and equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) training or certification (preferred).
- Familiarity with a broad range of aircraft fastener types and their proper applications.
- Knowledge of current manufacturing practices and a willingness to learn advanced spacecraft manufacturing techniques.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Detail-oriented approach while maintaining awareness of broader operational objectives and production goals.
- Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safe shop practices.
- Experience with aircraft maintenance, repair, sheet metal work, and heavy maintenance is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset to support cross-functional teamwork.

Work Environment
This position is fully onsite in an aircraft hangar environment with temperature control, though humidity levels may be elevated due to the nature of aircraft parts and processes. You will work around composite and metallic structures, shop tools, and machinery in a production setting that emphasizes safety, FOD control, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The standard schedules follow a 4/10 workweek, with options including a Monday–Thursday night shift (4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.) and a Thursday–Sunday day shift (6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.). Overtime may be possible but is not guaranteed. The environment is structured, process-driven, and quality-focused, supporting precise manufacturing and assembly work on advanced aerospace hardware.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
