Job Description:Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs aircraft sheet metal partsReads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal productsLays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templatesSets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materialsShapes metal material over anvil, block, or other formTrims, files, grinds, de-burrs, buffs, and smooths surfacesComply with 14 CFR (as applicable), manufacturer& 39;s specifications, company policies, and procedures, as well as other methods accepted by the FAA, when accomplishing maintenanceConduct on-the-job training as assignedMaintain the maintenance work area in a clean and orderly conditionPerforms a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on aircraft structural assemblies and sub-assemblies such as wings, stabilizers, flight controlsWork with or without established blueprints to fabricate, drill, dimple, file, grind, trim, countersink and install aircraft structural assemblies and sub-assembliesA wide variety of duties are performed such as dismantling, overhauling, repairing, fabricating, assembling, inspecting and erecting all parts of an aircraftUse of hand and/or power tools, jigs, and sawsMay disassemble, modify, rework, re-assemble, complex structures and systemsMay work with composites if interestedAdditional duties as assignedSkills and Experience Required:Previous experience manufacturing simple to complex mechanical assemblies and sub-assembliesExperience using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as drill presses, rivet and hardware pressesAbility to read and understand mechanical drawingsMust have strong mechanical aptitudeWell rounded knowledge of sheet metal tooling, equipment, materials, and processes, strongly preferredMust own basic set of aircraft maintenance toolsMust take instruction and guidance wellMust be goal oriented, have an exceptional attention to detail, and must work well in team situations and also as an individualEnthusiasm to learnA drive for process improvement and learning our aircraft and systems.High energy levelAbility to multitaskAbility to work at both a fast pace and high quality levelTeam SpiritMust be able to pass background check as well as pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testsBe authorized to work in the US.Physical Abilities:This position requires you to perform a variety of physical activities such as:Accessing elevated areas of aircraft for maintenance and servicing which may require the use of ladders, high lift trucks, boom lifts and other lifting devicesClimbing, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, sitting, working overhead, extensive walking, working in tight/confined spaces and lifting up to 50 poundsHandling hazardous material in performance of assigned dutiesBe able to use Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., respirators, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.)This description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by an employee within this position; additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as appropriateDesired:Education/Training3+ years structural sheet metal experienceHigh school diploma/GED.A&P certificateExperience:Sheet Metal: 3 yearsMechanic: 3 yearsLicense:Airframe and Powerplant
