Sheet Metal Mechanic — Slate Aviation

Slate Aviation is seeking experienced Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanics to support heavy maintenance, modification, and structural repair programs at our Macon, GA facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in close-tolerance drilling, riveting, structure re-work, and corrosion removal in an MRO or heavy check environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural repairs, modifications, and re-work on commercial aircraft

• Read, interpret, and follow AMM, SRM, SBs, EOs, engineering drawings, and blueprints

• Drill, ream, countersink, and deburr holes to close tolerances

• Install fasteners including solid rivets, Hi-Loks, CherryMax, and nutplates

• Repair and fabricate patches, doublers, frames, ribs, clips, and brackets

• Remove corrosion and perform blend-outs as required

• Work on skin panels, stringers, frames, floor structures, and seat tracks

• Support non-routine findings and heavy-maintenance tasks

• Ensure all work meets FAA, company, and quality standards

• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow shop / safety procedures

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in MRO / Heavy Maintenance / C-Checks

• Experience on Boeing or Airbus commercial aircraft platforms

• Ability to work from engineering documents and repair manuals

• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship

• Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years aircraft sheet metal experience (or military equivalent)

• Must be able to pass drug test, background check, and compliance onboarding

• Must provide own basic sheet metal tools

• Ability to work overtime or variable shifts as needed
