This role focuses on performing complex structural modifications and repairs on fixed-wing military aircraft within a secure, climate-controlled hangar environment. You will work on heavy depot-level maintenance and modification projects, using your sheet metal and airframe experience to install and integrate advanced technologies that support critical defense missions. The position offers long-term, open-ended contract work with the potential to transition to a direct role, and requires a strong commitment to quality, safety, and precision in all aspects of aircraft structural work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform classified heavy structural modifications on various fixed-wing military aircraft, including C-130 and P-3 airframes.
  • Carry out depot-level and heavy aviation maintenance tasks focused on aircraft structures and sheet metal components.
  • Execute sheet metal repairs and light to heavy modifications, including fabrication, fitting, and installation of structural parts and assemblies.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance documentation to complete structural tasks accurately.
  • Use rivet guns and other sheet metal tools to perform riveting, drilling, countersinking, and fastening operations in accordance with aviation standards.
  • Inspect existing structures for damage, corrosion, or defects and perform appropriate repair or replacement actions.
  • Ensure all work complies with FAA regulations, company procedures, and program-specific requirements.
  • Adapt to changing program needs, including working 1st or 2nd shift as required and supporting overtime when available.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in aircraft structures and sheet metal work within an aviation maintenance or modification environment.
  • If only military experience: at least 6+ years of aviation structures (sheet metal) experience.
  • Proficiency in sheet metal repair, including cutting, forming, drilling, and fitting structural components.
  • Ownership of a complete set of tools with a shadowed toolbox, with tools etched or color-marked by Day One.
  • Capability to pass a basic sheet metal test on Day One as an assessment of practical skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience performing aircraft modification, heavy maintenance, and structural repair work.
  • Experience in aviation heavy maintenance or depot-level maintenance environments.
  • Prior aviation modification experience, particularly with missionized or specialized aircraft programs.
  • Military aviation structures experience with sheet metal focus is strongly valued, especially when combined with civilian experience.

Why Work Here?

You will join a mission-driven organization where your work directly supports critical national defense operations and the protection of service members. The role offers a long-term, open-ended contract with the opportunity to convert to a direct position, providing strong job security and clear career growth potential in a rapidly expanding aviation operation.
