Position Overview
The Senior Aircraft Technician will independently perform advanced aircraft maintenance and modification tasks on mid- and large-size aircraft within the Product Support division. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong adherence to FAA regulations, and the ability to guide and support junior technicians. The technician will perform mechanical, structural, electrical, and system-level tasks to ensure aircraft meet all safety, performance, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and servicing of aircraft mechanical systems in compliance with FAA and company standards.
- Complete all assigned tasks within quoted or standard CMP timeframes while maintaining high quality.
- Provide daily work direction to assigned technicians and set an example for quality and professionalism.
- Act as Mechanical Team Lead (MTL) in their absence, assuming leadership duties as required.
- Coordinate with Inspection to maintain compliance with documentation requirements, including work orders, shift turnovers, logs, and sign-offs.
- Tag, store, and manage customer property and aircraft components securely.
- Operate and supervise ground support equipment (GSE), including power units, hydraulic rigs, nitrogen/oxygen carts, and lifting equipment.
- Assist in aircraft movement and positioning as needed.
- Train new technicians on maintenance manuals, CMP programs, SRMs, IPCs, flight test installations, and component maintenance.
- Coordinate repair/overhaul of customer components with other departments.
Additional Functions
- Create parts demands and charge labor accurately using the material tracking system.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following 6S and Lean principles.
- Properly handle and dispose of waste materials (fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, rags, etc.).
- Support flight testing and aircraft certification processes when required.
- Maintain company-issued tools and ensure proper storage.
- Perform other assigned duties.
