Assembly & Test Mechanic (Afterspanet) Off Shift

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Disassemble, clean and evaluate field return units. Perform functional testing prior to returning units to service. Assists in configuration control, assures compliance with assembly instructions, overhaul manual, military technical orders and blueprints and/or process requirements with a minimum of supervision. The Afterspanet Pump Mechanic must comply with Parker HSD test specifications, customer test requirements and request changes through Quality Assurance and Engineering disciplines. Sets-up and operates all types of units.

WORKING PROCEDURES:

  1. Prepares for assembly or disassembly of Afterspanet units, or complex subassemblies by unwrapping and inspecting components for cleanliness and/or damage.
  2. Responsible for preparation of paperwork and computer records for identification and traceability of components and accurate completion of traveler documentation.
  3. Cleans, disassembles, evaluates, assembles, tests, troubleshoots, certify, and button-up Afterspanet components and complex subassemblies, as required by Repair Orders and in accordance with technical orders, manuals, prints and/or processes. Works from test specifications, blueprints, or special directives from Engineering. Makes complete set-ups using test specifications or blueprints as a guide.
  4. Provides source data to CAs for job cost estimates. Executes daily assembly and test assignments as directed while operating under the FIFO principle. Confers with manufacturing engineers and supervision to ensure deviations from routine are authorized.
  5. Must have the ability to work with, repair, and build wiring harnesses with solderless and solder type connections.
  6. Able to read, interpret and work from blueprints, electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  7. Tests units to the applicable specifications. Brings to the attention of the supervisor any questionable characteristics that are not covered by the specification.
  8. Originates neat and legible paperwork and maintains other records that are required for performance of the job. Maintains the work area in a neat condition. Takes proper care of all tools, gages and equipment. Maintains area status boards and communication charts.
  9. Must be capable and willing to instruct other employees within the areas of primary function.
  10. Coordinates carry-over jobs with next shift as required.
  11. Participates in continuous improvement activities/efforts with the classification/department.
  12. Must be able to work with both red oil and Skydrol oils while also meeting the physical requirements of the job.
  13. Shall be capable and shall be willing to be certified and qualified in multiple product families, within 45 days of reaching the top of the wage progression.
