Job Description:

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, riveting, drilling, and reaming.
    • Verify part dimensions using micrometers and calipers.
    • Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignment.
    • Perform stripping, cleaning, sanding and priming operations on structural surfaces and materials prior to bonding.
    • Complete all required maintenance records.
    • Accurately records time worked on a work order.
    • Ability to read design specifications or examine sample parts to determine fabrication procedures and machines and tools required for repair or installation.
    • Trim and file parts to fit and verify fitting tolerances, using proper measuring tools and techniques.
    • Drill, ream, and countersink holes in subassemblies, and bolts, rivets, or otherwise fastens subassemblies into structural assembly.
    • Install parts and components, such as incidental plumbing, electrical, rigging, or other functional items, in main structure.
    • May specialize in work or repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.
    • Communicates with the customer as required.
    • Must be able to use the FAA approved data proficiently (i.e., IPC, M/M, OHM, SRM).
    • Must have knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

    Qualifications:

    • 2+ years aviation assembly/sheet metal experience preferred, not required
    • Must have a positive attitude and ability to work in a highly motivated team environment
    • Able to work swing shift, weekends and over time as required
    • Must be willing to acquire minimum required tools within a reasonable time after hire
    • Knowledge and experience repairing sheet, extruded, or other structural parts of aircraft according to design specifications using hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery
    • Strong understanding of blueprints and industry specifications
    • Must be able to use all technical data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs
    • Ability to work with teammates to fit and align heavy parts or expedite processing of repair parts
    • Must be able to accomplish repairs, modifications, drawing changes, etc. at times with little assistance
    • Wiring harness and hydraulic installation experience a definite plus, but not required
    • Ability to read and interpret aircraft engineering blueprints
    • Must be able to follow detailed instructions
    • Must be able to use basic aircraft sheet metal tools (i.e., rivet gun, various rivet squeezes, drill, 90-degree drill, bucking bar, etc.)
    • Must be knowledgeable with different aircraft fasteners and have the ability to install fasteners to aircraft specifications (strong rivet shooting and bucking are a bonus)
    • Must be able to work comfortably on scissor lifts at a height of 12ft.
    • Must be able to pass the pre-employment practical test consisting of layout, shear, deburr, temporarily assembly components, drill for and install various rivets, Hi-Loks, etc.
    • Ability to lift to 50 pounds
