JOB PURPOSE                   

Oversees the analysis and development of the organizational needs of Ascent Aviation Services and its individual team members. Creates and maintains clear professional roadmaps for organizational corporate and team member personal development. Acts as a cross-functional member of the compliance assurance team.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:  Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  Requires frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level.  Requires occasional crawling, crouching, kneeling, and balancing.  Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 10 pounds.  Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated:  Ladders, stands, hi-lifts, flashlights, magnifying glasses, and standard office equipment.

Work Location:  Aircraft maintenance hangar, flight line, and maintenance offices.

Potential Hazards:  Exposure to high intensity noise levels, changes in temperature, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets.  Working at heights and around moving machinery.

Protective Equipment Required:  Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses and breathing equipment.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops and implements team member career path guidance and training detaining minimum milestones required for each position to ensure consistent and clear messaging for personal progression.

  • Monitors areas of risk pertaining to adequately qualified personnel and makes recommendations and action plans designed to ensure proper staffing of duly qualified personnel exists.

  • Provides team members with professional counselling and coaching designed to position them for growth within the organization.

  • Coordinates with Human Resources on specific needs of the company to ensure that properly trained personnel are recruited as necessary.

  • Interfaces with team members on all levels to assess opportunities for growth within the organization and to coach compliance as well as adherence to processes and procedures.

  • Provides orientation for incoming members of management, with support for training in areas such as Quantum, Web Desktop, organizational resources, existing processes, etc.

  • Assists the Director of Quality Assurance with process improvement, program design and implementation.

  • Acts as a FAA liaison for the Director of Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with CFRs.

  • Provide additional support to all departments for the training of team members with the goal of improving efficiency, reduction in errors, and compliance to applicable standards and regulations.

  • Acts as interdepartmental liaison to encourage open lines of communication and teamwork.

  • Liaises with the Training Department in the development and continual maintenance of training matrices.

  • Coordinates with the FAA on the submittal of corporate training accomplished in support of the Diamond Award of Excellence for Aviation Maintenance Technician Training.

  • Holds additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Director of Quality Assurance.

Marginal Job Functions:

  • Assists in Quality Assurance and continuous improvement projects and duties as needed.  

  • Assist the department in the achievement of company and departmental goals and improve the overall maintenance product.

  • Ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. Directs activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions.

SMS REQUIREMENTS

  • Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance.

  • Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries.

  • Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven effective management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.

Education/Training:

Experience:  Minimum of 5 years of pertinent quality systems or auditing experience. Preferred experience with ISO9001/AS9110 auditing, CASE auditing, or commercial aircraft maintenance (MRO) auditing.

Certificates/Licenses:  ASQ certification as CQA, CMQ/OE, or Quality System Lead Auditor certification preferred. Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt beneficial. Valid driver’s license required.
