JOB OBJECTIVE: The Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing company aircraft to ensure airworthiness, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role supports corporate flight operations by performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting systems, coordinating with OEMs, vendors, and regulatory authorities, and maintaining Promega’s aviation facilities and equipment. The AMT ensures aircraft are ready for safe, efficient missions supporting company executives and operational needs.
CORE DUTIES:
1. Work with the pilots and Director of Maintenance to create and maintain the highest level of safety for our passengers and employees.
- Perform maintenance on Promega’s aircraft.
- Assist the Director of Maintenance in maintaining accurate and complete aircraft maintenance records in accordance with FAA Part 91 requirements. Ensure timely and proper completion of aircraft logbook entries, inspection checklists, and all required documentation. Track and assist with compliance monitoring for Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and regulatory updates.
- Assist the Director of Maintenance with supervising vendor compliance during outsourced inspections.
- Assist in managing a spare parts inventory.
- Assist in maintaining all publications and manuals for currency.
- Assist in maintaining all avionics downloads for charts services.
- Maintain the aircraft stock and the hangar stock to support the flights and facility.
- Moving the aircraft in and out of hangar.
- Perform comprehensive pre-flight maintenance inspections for aircraft and ground equipment prior to each mission, including dispatch readiness checks, fluid servicing, tire and brake inspections, and ground power connections to ensure airworthiness and operational readiness.
- Travel as needed to provide Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support at remote locations. Coordinate with Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and vendors for parts, tools, or outside labor support to minimize aircraft downtime.
- Perform a post flight inspection that includes cleaning the inside and exterior of the aircraft and ground equipment after each flight.
- Assist and manage fueling of aircraft with the line technicians.
- Maintain and clean Promega’s aircraft and aviation facility to include the hangar, offices and grounds, and customer vehicles.
- Maintain all ground support equipment.
- Participate in and contribute to Promega’s Safety Management System (SMS) through proactive identification and reporting of safety concerns, hazards, and opportunities for continuous improvement in aviation operations.
- Will work nights and weekends as required to support the Aviation department.
- Perform seasonal maintenance for the facility and landscaping.
- Travel with airplanes as a cabin attendant/flight technician as needed.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in corporate or general aviation maintenance, with demonstrated proficiency in aircraft systems troubleshooting and repair.
- Airframe & Power plant license.
- Maintain a current Madison Airport Security Badge.
- Mechanical and Avionics trouble shooting experience.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with pilots, management, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- High level of personal integrity and discretion in handling confidential company aviation matters.
- Ability to work variable shifts including early mornings, late evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call duty as needed to support flight operations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Inspection Authorization (IA) certification.
- Formal OEM training on jet aircraft.
- Associate or Bachelor degree.
- Experience with aviation maintenance tracking software systems.
- Manufacturer-specific training on business jet aircraft.
- Familiarity with IS-BAO (International Standard)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly for loading bags, aircraft stock, and parts.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces during aircraft inspections and maintenance.
- Ability to operate aircraft tug and ground equipment including ground power units (GPUs), ladders, and lifts safely and efficiently.
- Capability to work variable shifts including early mornings, late evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call duty as required to support flight operations.
- Ability to perform outdoor flight line operations with exposure to weather elements including cold, heat, precipitation, and seasonal conditions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including removing snow, grounds maintenance, and facility upkeep.
- Must live within 60 minutes of the Dane County Regional Airport to support timely response for flight operations and on-call duties.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in various physical positions for extended periods during aircraft maintenance and inspections.
