Position Overview
The Senior Avionics Technician will provide leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on support in the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. This role ensures delivery of defect-free installations while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. The technician will mentor junior technicians, perform complex system diagnostics, and support operational testing to maintain aircraft reliability and schedule adherence.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate advanced technical skills in troubleshooting, operational testing, and repair of avionics and aircraft systems.
- Train, mentor, and guide technicians in avionics installation, testing procedures, and system functionality.
- Ensure all installations are completed with high quality; instruct team members on effective troubleshooting practices.
- Perform repairs and component replacements using proper methods, including soldering, splicing, and wiring techniques.
- Execute engineering changes, system modifications, and upgrades as required.
- Operate and maintain avionics test equipment; perform functional and operational tests to validate system performance.
- Complete all documentation accurately, including daily logs, work orders, and repair records.
- Conduct pre-inspection of work performed by others to reduce rework and inspection time.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electronic systems, components, and test equipment.
- Enforce safety programs: FOD, tool control, 5S, and all company safety regulations.
- Adapt to schedule changes efficiently and coordinate with other teams to support project needs.
Additional Functions
- Train employees on avionics installation, testing processes, and engineering documentation.
- Perform self-inspection for applicable testing tasks.
- Support aircraft certification and final phase testing, including participation in flight tests as required.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
