STS Aviation Services is hiring experienced B2 Lead Mechanics to join our team at Manchester Airport. This role is ideal for skilled avionics professionals ready to take on a leadership position within a high-performing maintenance team.
As a B2 Lead Mechanic, you will oversee and supervise a team of experienced avionics technicians, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality across all production and modification programmes. You’ll serve as the focal point for the avionics aspect of each project, coordinating with engineering teams and reporting progress to your B2 Licensed Engineer.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of avionics technicians, ensuring safe and efficient operations
- Lead by example to promote a strong safety culture and operational excellence
- Oversee wiring terminations, testing, and equipment installations
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with engineering teams on avionics modifications and upgrades
- Track and manage adherence to allocated task card hours and programme timelines
- Identify discrepancies between planned and actual hours, analysing root causes and recommending improvements
- Support data-driven decision-making for labour forecasting and resource allocation
- Conduct system testing, validation, and troubleshooting for avionics systems
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior avionics personnel
Skills & Abilities
- Minimum of 5 years’ aircraft experience
- Previous production and modification experience
- Prior supervisory or lead experience
- Strong knowledge of avionics systems and components
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Eligible to work and live in the United Kingdom
