The Surveillance Inspector is responsible for performing inspections in accordance with current technical data, manufacturer instructions for continued airworthiness, airworthiness directives, and other FAA-accepted or approved data. This role ensures airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company quality standards within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station.

Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections of maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alteration of a powerplant/aircraft or appliance.
  • Accomplish inspection and Required Inspection Items as specified on the Maintenance and Inspection Authorization Card.
  • Verify that required tooling, calibrated equipment, and approved technical data are used during maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect major repairs and alterations to ensure compliance with approved data and proper tools utilization.
  • Record inspections performed on maintenance, repairs, and alterations in accordance with company procedures.
  • Generate and sign FAA Form 337 for major repairs and alterations.
  • Conduct inspection tasks for customer engines, modules, and components, recording defects and discrepancies.
  • Review corrective action entries for completion, traceability, and proper authorization prior to signoff.
  • Perform receiving inspection on incoming parts, materials, and tooling to verify conformity and serviceability.
  • Report to the Lead Surveillance Inspector all matters affecting airworthiness or regulatory compliance.
  • Perform detailed borescope inspections in accordance with OEM instructions and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and verify engine incoming condition, receiving documentation, inventory records, and borescope findings.
  • Conduct module inspections and in-process surveillance signoffs to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and rework verification of engine parts and assemblies as required.
  • Interpret and apply information from technical data during inspections.
  • Monitor and provide oversight of technicians’ work to ensure adherence to procedures and safety practices.
  • Maintain compliance with 14 CFR Part 145, the Company Repair Station Manual, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
Essential Skills
  • Certified as a Mechanic or Repairman under 14 CFR Part 65.
  • Powerplant License is required.
  • Minimum three years of borescope inspection experience.
  • Two or more years of experience working on CFM56-3, -5B, and -7B engines.
  • Proficiency in working with hand tools and pneumatic tools.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of engine components and related systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Airframe certification is a plus.
  • Quantum experience preferred.
  • Ability to isolate failures and complete rework of parts.

Work Environment

Work in a backshop engine MRO shop with two shifts available: First Shift from 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM and Second Shift from 2:15 PM – 10:15 PM. Candidates working the second shift will receive a $2/hr differential on top of the base rate.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.
