Summary:
Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture-critical areas.
Locate blind holes for installation of new structural items to existing structures.
Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation of structures per standard repair processes.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements for structural modifications/repairs.
Utilize tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts.
Apply knowledge of mechanical component troubleshooting, sheet metal/structural modification, and basic non-complex electrical systems.
Operate aircraft-specific tools including torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.
Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate parts/discrepancy requests.
Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits.
Ascend/descend vertical ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift approximately 35 lbs.
Ensure workplace safety using Hazardous Energy and Lockout/Tagout systems.
Collaborate with General Mechanics, Avionics, and Electronics teams to meet cost and schedule targets.
Complete assessment at the end of the training cycle.
Comply with SA Site Tool and FOD procedures.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.
4+ years of experience with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).
4+ years working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and SOPs.
4+ years using structure hand tools: drills (45 and 90 ), pancake adapters, countersink cages, hole finders, rivet guns.
4+ years working with heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening aircraft components (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.).
Ability to work variable shifts, including scheduled/unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
