Job Title: Chief Inspector
Job Description
Under the leadership of the General Manager, the Chief Inspector ensures Part 145 Repair Station regulatory compliance in accordance with agency requirements, including FAA, EASA, UK 145, ISO, and CAAC. This role manages and participates in quality activities to improve processes, procedures, methods, and materials used in the repair and overhaul processes while ensuring product quality and safety are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for FAA and other aviation authority personnel, including EASA, UK 145, and CAAC.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of airworthiness certification requirements and regulatory bodies applicable to business unit needs.
- Monitor the internal audit and surveillance of required programs mandated by all regulatory agencies. Ensure provisions are implemented to correct any discrepancies reported.
- Manage all onsite regulatory inspections and audits.
- Oversee ISO certification and all aspects of quality assurance, including supplier audits.
- Update and maintain all Repair Station required manuals and capabilities lists.
- Prepare applications for revisions or amendments to the Operations Specifications, prepare applications for Repair Station Authorizations, and manage timely renewal applications for existing authorizations.
- Maintain FAA Safety Sensitive position and manage all return-to-service inspections in the absence of the Quality Supervisor.
- Make final airworthiness determinations and approve articles for return to service.
- Accountable for all technician training, including new hire training, cross-training, and training due to the identification of deficiencies.
- Monitor warranty and final inspection rejection data and procedures, including investigation, root-cause, corrective action, and follow-up.
- Identify and resolve safety and regulatory compliance issues with customers, regulatory inspectors, and auditors.
- Strive for continuous process improvements and increased efficiency in execution and delivery with safety and quality as a priority.
- Maintain communication with the General Manager about any departmental roadblocks or threats.
- Maintain and update policies and procedures related to tool calibration, technical data, shelf-life, and scrap parts programs.
- Oversee compliance with safety standards, industry trends, and applicable regulations.
- Drive and support the companys safety program and initiatives, managing onsite Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Oversee the technical library and ensure that repair station technical data is current and available.
- Ensure employee training records are maintained up to date.
- Maintain the master list and control of inspection stamps and a current roster of authorized Supervisory and Inspection Personnel.
- Ensure the repair station NDT program, manuals, and training are maintained to required standards.
- Manage the departmental budget.
- Provide supervision and leadership to quality personnel that promotes company goals, initiatives, and culture.
- Provide support and assistance to other functions and operating units as directed.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years as a chief inspector/accountable manager at a Part 145 repair facility.
- Strong understanding of FAA regulatory compliance and QA principles.
- Experience working with regulatory bodies such as FAA, including audits and inspections.
- Strong data analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and continuous improvement focus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and follow-up skills.

- Engineering or technical degree.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
