A Part 135 air carrier with operations in the Pacific Northwest is launching scheduled commuter operations while also building a foundation to support the future needs of the changing aviation environment.  We support a larger vision to provide multimodal transportation solutions by bringing airports and access ever closer to the consumer. We currently provide affordable, customer-focused managed aircraft services using our fleet of Cessna T303 and 402 aircraft. Our corporate headquarters is located in Fort Collins, Colorado. 

The Role:

The Director of Maintenance assures continued airworthiness of managed aircraft that are operated under 14 CFR Part 135. The Director of Maintenance will ensure that managed aircraft are maintained to the highest degree of safety and in a cost-effective manner. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, revise and control company manuals and all other forms and documents pertaining to aircraft maintenance.
  • Perform on-site audits of maintenance providers and maintain the approved vendor list.
  • Participate in audits conducted by regulatory authorities, customers, and third-party safety organizations.
  • Assure the tracking of time life and scheduled maintenance items on all managed aircraft.
  • Conduct inspection of managed aircraft to evaluate equipment and manual requirements required by Part 135 and to detect obvious damage, failure, or irregularities.
  • Complete necessary maintenance work and submit conformity package to FAA for adding aircraft to the operating certificate.
  • Establish and maintain current availability status and time limitations of leased and managed aircraft.
  • Authorize and coordinate all maintenance performed on leased and managed aircraft.
  • Review maintenance invoices and match them against work estimates to ensure that maintenance is performed in a cost-effective manner and properly invoiced.
  • Ensure all maintenance personnel, vendors, and contractors performing work on aircraft are covered by an FAA-approved drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Ensure proper use of the Minimum Equipment List by authorizing deferred items and monitoring deferrals for timely closure.
  • Ensure that all necessary documents pertaining to the release of an aircraft have been properly completed prior to flight.
  • Maintain oversight of aircraft maintenance facilities that perform work on company aircraft, ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Function as liaison between the Company and Federal Aviation Administration regarding aircraft maintenance requirements.
  • Communicate as appropriate with regulatory authorities regarding issues related to safety and quality.
Job Requirements:
  • Complete knowledge of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
  • Full understanding of the Company’s Operations Specifications.
  • Expert level knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Proven ability to set priorities, communicate objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Cessna piston twin engine maintenance experience.
  • Experience managing maintenance records.
  • Experience adding aircraft to a 135 certificate.

Education or Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance, aviation management or similar subject, OR 7-10 years of equivalent work experience is required.
  • Airframe and Powerplant License is required.

Knowledge and Other Requirements:

  • Have 3 years of experience within the past 6 years maintaining aircraft as a certificated mechanic or have 3 years of experience within the past 6 years repairing aircraft in a certificated airframe repair station, including 1 year in the capacity of approving aircraft for return to service.
  • 2+ years of maintenance management experience
  • Previous experience in a Part 135 or Part 121 operation
