Job Description:
Western Aviation located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest is now hiring for FBO Technicians and FBO Working Leader positions. We are committed to excellence in the private aviation sector by providing uncompromised safety, unparalleled quality and exceptional customer service.
The FBO Technician position combines cross training between multiple functions, providing support in all customer facing services of the FBO, upkeep of the facilities and grounds and support to Repair Station personnel and movement of aircraft.
FBO Technicians and their Working Leaders will attend to all service needs of locally based and transient aircraft, their owners, pilots, crews and passengers. Exceptional customer service skills are absolutely vital for this role. The FBO Technicians ensure every arriving/departing aircraft receives all ground and front desk support services in a timely fashion, with high energy and a smile. The successful candidate will be as comfortable on the ramp fueling or repositioning an aircraft, as they are providing check in/out services at the front counter, answering the phone or assisting Repair Station team members with their daily tasks.

  • Responsible for the movement, placement, storage, de-icing and fueling of an aircraft.
  • Provides professional and friendly customer service at front desk both in person and on the phone, offering additional services where applicable
  • Operates a wide variety of aircraft ground support equipment
  • Possesses keen situational awareness regarding aircraft and ever-changing weather conditions, debris on the ramp or impending hazards
  • Ensures safe operations: protecting customers, team members and equipment from harm
  • Performs other duties deemed necessary and assigned by Working Leaders or Managers

Job Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Provides consistent communication in a friendly, fast and direct manner
  • Knowledge of aviation fueling and towing procedures
  • Clerical skills: computer usage, writing, organization
  • Knowledge of general facilities maintenance
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Safety and security awareness
  • High level customer service skills and the desire to work directly with customers
  • Meticulous attention to detail is a must
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Available to work any day or time as scheduled (see work conditions)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • (2) years customer service experience and/or education
  • (1) year previous general aviation Line Service and/or aircraft ground handling experience
  • Professional development in an aviation school, college or university
Work Conditions:
  • Work is performed in and out of a hangar setting with exposure to extreme weather conditions, hazardous materials and heavy equipment
  • Position requires lifting and long periods of standing, walking, stooping, bending and climbing onto and off ladders. Must be comfortable occasionally working at heights of more than 20 feet
  • Able to work different shifts and at different locations
  • Able to accommodate unscheduled flights and after hours call-out services as needed
  • Schedule varies and can include early mornings (4am) or late evenings (8pm) during peak season
  • Reports to FBO Working Leader and FBO Operations Manager
  • While performing the duties of this job, the FBO Technician is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions including extreme heat and cold; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; vibrations; chemicals including aviation fuels, oils and lavatory fluid. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud. Ear protection and safety gear is provided
  • Understands this position may expose the team member to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, machinery and inclement weather.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to perform frequent walking, sitting, stooping, stretching, bending, reaching and grasping actions. May be required to work nights, early mornings and weekends. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English
