Facilities Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

JOB SUMMARY: 

This position is a full-time hourly non-exempt position. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will service all ground support equipment, diesel and gas powered vehicles as needed. This applicant will also maintain all buildings, grounds, and ensure that all are kept in good repair and working order. This position requires basic motor skills and an ability to provide high customer service. Arm strength, basic dexterity, and operate hand tools and/or power tools and equipment to complete tasks are required. Electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and general construction knowledge is essential. This employee will be required to work with a planned work schedule and minimum supervision. Job duties will vary as designated by the Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance. ZR

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Perform maintenance on ground support equipment: diesel line service trucks, diesel tugs, vehicles, and gas powered tugs.
• Limited construction and/or modification of buildings.
• Perform maintenance on facilities, including but not limited to plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and care of the grounds and ramp areas.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections.
• Perform unscheduled maintenance on vehicles, golf carts, forklifts, floor cleaners, Gene Booms, and man lifts.
• Hazardous waste pick up from all facilities.
• Shoveling snow and gravel as necessary.
• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Education 

High school diploma or equivalent. 

Experience

Auto mechanic or diesel mechanic experience preferred.

Welding experience preferred.

Initiative 

Self-motivated and able to maintain a rapid pace. 

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibility 

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.

Must be able to follow directions. 

Must perform quality work to customers.

Must follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Physical Requirements 

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds on a routine basis. 

Routine walking, bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling and reaching. 

Ability to stand for long periods of time. 

Repetitive motion with arms and legs.

Mental Requirements 

Process and complete tasks.

Troubleshoot or evaluate problems.

Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure. 

Ability to communicate and work with others in a professional and courteous manner. 

Supervision 

Will work under supervision of Building Maintenance Supervisor or others as required.

Work with minimal supervision when required. 

Working Conditions 

The majority of work will be accomplished under all seasonal conditions in all locations throughout West Star Aviation’s buildings and properties. Fifty percent of work is performed outdoors on concrete and asphalt.

Personal hand tools, power tools, and other pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment including forklift, tractor, pickup truck, golf cart, snowplow, tug, power cart, lifts, jacks, stands, and forklifts.
