Job Summary

This position is to provide support to the facilities and maintenance team at the GKN Aerospace North Charlestown Facility.

Job Responsibilities

General Maintenance Support Tasks

  • Assisting with fork lift as needed
  • Assisting contractors and technicians as needed
  • Report all oil inventory to facilities lead
  • Package any parts  /supplies to be shipped as needed
  • Collect any incoming parts / supplies from shipping
  • Support in counting forgings as needed
  • Support in cleaning messes as needed
  • Backup driver for CT and VT run when person on vacation
  • Operator computer and fill out documents and use of company specific software
  • Minor carpentry and painting as needed
  • Clean outside of building such as leaves around HVAC and pressure was building as needed

Autonomous Maintenance Tasks (AM)

  • Change filters on HVACs and spray them out 
  • Change filters on machines / equipment
  • Audit AM
  • Coolant tank cleanouts
  • Oil machines such as way lube, spindle lube, empty oil skimmer containers, etc.
  • Dust collectors AM such as grease, change filters, clean and pump out
  • Cutting Tool Management
  • Stock sharp tools
  • Collect dull tools
  • Ship dull tools

Other Tasks

  • Clean bathrooms, break rooms
  • Vacuum out coolant from chip barrels, transport to storage container, and replace w/ empties
  • Collect and store empty forging containers in proper location
  • Clean shop floors, break rooms, office floors, and bathroom floors
  • Shopping (grocery and misc. as needed)
  • Restock of company supplied break items
  • Collect, empty, and take out trash / recycling
  • Clearing of snow and ice in all required areas that the plow does not get
  • Pest remediation as needed
Job Requirements:
Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1 year of experience using general hand tools


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and perform duties on an elevated platform.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, reach and stoop.
  • Ability to read, interpret and utilize drawings and diagrams (electrical, piping, P&ID)
