Automation Control Technician
Job Description
As an Automation Control Technician, you will be responsible for installing and terminating wiring for instrumentation and data acquisition systems, ensuring the smooth operation of complex electrical systems. You will collaborate with design engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues derived from test data, while also leading complex projects with minimal oversight. Your expertise will contribute to building intricate cable assemblies and maintaining PLC-based manufacturing hardware.
Responsibilities
- Install and terminate wiring to instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Install connectors, connector pins, terminals, and lugs.
- Perform continuity checks and correct wiring errors using measuring instruments.
- Collaborate with design engineers to troubleshoot failures and resolve issues.
- Write, create, and organize work planning documents and instructions.
- Generate purchase orders from vendor quotes.
- Lead complex and mentally taxing projects with little to no oversight.
- Install and modify electrical conveyances, including conduit and cable tray.
- Build intricate and complex cable assemblies using Mil-C connectors and contacts.
- Troubleshoot AC power distribution equipment and maintain PLC-based hardware.
- Fabricate support structures, enclosures, and conveyances for electrical distribution equipment.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming and automation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and electronics.
- Experience in panel building, wiring, and control panels.
- Associate degree in aerospace technology or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with instrumentation like pressure transducers, thermocouples, and flow meters.
- Familiarity with ISO 9000, IPC-620, and ICP-610 standards.
- Quality inspection experience with harnessing and cables.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with NI software and Studio 5000.
- Proficient use of power tools and hand tools.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to design and fabricate simple electrical circuits.

Work Environment
You will work both indoors and outdoors, requiring general physical fitness as some tasks are performed in tight quarters. The ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs unassisted and work at elevated heights with proper PPE is essential. The environment can be extreme, involving heat, cold, rain, fumes, odors, and noise. Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed is required. The schedule typically runs from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brownsville, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
