About the RoleIn this role, you’ll perform gas meter replacement, testing, and troubleshooting in the field to support a major utility modernization project. You will work directly with residential customers, ensure safe operation of gas systems, and document all work through a company?provided handheld device. Training, certifications, uniforms, tools, and equipment are all provided.
Key ResponsibilitiesRead, remove, and replace existing residential gas meters
Perform gas leak tests using a combustible gas indicator
Repair minor gas leaks as required
Build gas meter loops and install new meters
Replace gas regulators when necessary
Conduct final meter tests and verify proper operation
Collect and record detailed installation data using a handheld device
Identify hazardous or abnormal operating conditions related to gas meter sets
Safely shut down and relight gas appliances
Interact professionally with utility customers in the field
Maintain high standards of safety, accuracy, and quality
Meet daily productivity goals as assigned by the Project Manager
Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to pass an MVR check (initial and every 6 months), background check, and DOT PHMSA compliant drug screen
Ability to walk, climb, stoop, and work outdoors for up to 10 hours per day in all weather conditions
Ability to use hand tools requiring up to 30 lbs of upper body force
Ability to safely turn gas supplies on/off and work with gas appliances
Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills
Ability to work independently and follow established safety protocols
Preferred QualificationsExperience in natural gas field service operations
Previous experience installing or repairing gas meters
Comfort with technology, handheld devices, and software applications

Pay Details: $22.00 per hour
