Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:  The Flight Test Technician reports to the Flight Test Program Manager and is responsible for leading all efforts associated with the flight test programs of USG-DoD aircraft; OEM aircraft, and commercial FAA aircraft as required; all internal and external operational procedures; primary aircraft focus is all variants of the H-47, but other aircraft are within scope of required duties; operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Perform general maintenance tasks on assigned platforms and utilize proper troubleshooting techniques to deliver timely results.
  2. Interface with government and platform flight testing personnel, resolving conflicts as soon as possible. 
  3. Properly utilize computer based work order system upon completion of training. 
  4. Must possess ability to travel to areas of operation in order to conduct activities in accordance with customer requirements.
  5. Understand and operate in accordance with latest revision of DCMA INST 8210.1 ground and flight operations procedures.
  6. Responsible for the safe operation of the aircraft sub systems.
  7. Coordinates efforts of assigned tasks with other team members like avionics technicians, structural technicians, logisticians and aircraft painters.
  8. Ensure tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications: Individual must possess one of the three key criteria’s:  FAA/A&P license and/or, Military technical school and or equivalent combination of education, OEM approved training, and experience.  To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to travel 25 of the time.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual should have the ability to interact with and enter data into spreadsheet software; ability operate Military electronic manuals and OEM software.

Other Skills and Abilities:  Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-direct work.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to travel occasionally.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts and vibration and work in high, precarious places.  Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and work with explosives.  The noise level in the work environment falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
