JOB DESCRIPTION: MAINTENANCE TOOL ROOM CLERK
FLSA STAUS: NON-EXEMPT
REPORT TO: BASE SUPERVISOR
This is a non-exempt position responsible for ordering, expediting, processing, handling, and tracking all parts and materials used by the airline. This position is responsible for the stock room and accounts for the inventory of retables, consumable’s, expendables, aircraft calibrated tooling and all items pertaining to aircraft maintenance that are maintained by the stock room personnel. The airline will conduct training for this position.

- Great customer service attitude and a willingness to “find a way” as opposed to “I can’t,” where applicable.
- Strong communication skills for interfacing with vendors.
- Working computer knowledge – ability to learn systems, proficient with a PC.
- Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to be trained in the requirements of handling hazardous materials as specified 49 CFR parts 171 through 180.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an airport security badge for assigned base.
General duties include:
- Issues parts and tooling from stockroom.
- Prepares parts and material for shipping. Initiates the screening process for items shipped into the facility.
- Reviews and processes packing slips and vendor documentation on received parts.
- Controls the release of inventory and assets and ensures the security and integrity of all property located in the stockroom.
- Prepares paperwork and/or performs computer input/output required to document warehouse activities.
- Verifies, counts, and processes all incoming and outgoing orders, materials, and documentation.
- Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
- Perform annual inventory for accounting department.
- Identifies discrepancies and damaged materials and reports them to the Director of Maintenance for corrective action.
- Completes and maintains cycle count sheets and other required reports and documentation.
- Performs general duties to include but not limited to shipping, receiving, locating and storing parts, unpacking and packing parts.
- Maintains knowledge of aircraft parts certification, traceability requirements, expired material, tool calibration.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; to stand, walk, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, handle objects, tools, to reach with hands and arms; and to lift or move 50 pounds.
- Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete stock.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
Requirements for the position:
- 2 years of experience in general aviation, or part 135 or 121 air carrier operations or corporate aircraft (preferred but not required)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work within a 24/7 operation including holidays.
- Ability to pass 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen per airline and/or company regulations.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1986.
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift or move up to 50-pounds.
- The employee is frequently required to sit.
- Must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time.
- Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform duties.
