Job Description

This role leads maintenance activities on helicopters in a busy hangar environment, combining hands-on A&P work with floor leadership responsibilities. You will perform and oversee maintenance and inspections on Bell and Airbus helicopters, coordinate workforce and project timelines, ensure documentation accuracy, and help maintain high standards of safety, quality, and cleanliness across the shop.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on helicopters, with a focus on Bell and Airbus aircraft.
  • Maintain project paperwork and documentation in accordance with internal quality control and maintenance procedures.
  • Use a computerized maintenance management system to accurately document all work performed.
  • Monitor and maintain article progress in line with workforce capacity and project timelines.
  • Ensure all required documents for each aircraft or component are obtained, current, and properly filed.
  • Confirm that all required parts are obtained, inspected, and approved prior to installation.
  • Verify that all projects and discrepancies on each aircraft or article are fully resolved and completed.
  • Maintain an up-to-date status of each aircraft or article for review by leadership and upper management.
  • Plan and maintain realistic timelines for article completion and adjust as needed to meet operational goals.
  • Communicate updates and changes to article progress to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Direct and control the workforce assigned to each article, ensuring tasks are clearly delegated and efficiently executed.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and organization around each aircraft or article, promoting a safe and orderly work area.
  • Ensure all tags are properly completed and attached to the appropriate parts and components.
  • Consistently produce high-quality work, setting a strong example for workmanship, safety, and professionalism.
  • Act as a team player with a positive, company-oriented attitude, supporting collaboration across the floor.
  • Provide training and guidance for personnel assigned to each article, supporting skill development and adherence to procedures.
  • Monitor workflow on each article to identify bottlenecks, reassign tasks as needed, and keep projects on schedule.
  • Work on the hangar floor as needed to support the team and ensure project completion.

Essential Skills

  • Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
  • At least 5 years of experience performing maintenance and inspections on aircraft, including required helicopter experience.
  • Hands-on experience with helicopter maintenance, preferably on Bell and Airbus platforms.
  • Proficiency documenting work in a computer-based maintenance management system.
  • Ability to lead floor activities and direct workforce assigned to specific aircraft or articles.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate project paperwork and documentation.
  • Ability to manage timelines and monitor article progress to meet completion goals.
  • Attention to detail in ensuring required documents and parts are obtained, current, and properly inspected.
  • Capability to consistently produce high-quality work and uphold high standards of safety and workmanship.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear updates and coordination with employees and leadership.
  • Ability to work on the hangar floor as needed to support operations.
  • Ownership of a complete and appropriate personal tool set for helicopter maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred but not required.
  • Experience working specifically on Bell helicopters and Airbus helicopters.
  • Experience providing on-the-job training and mentorship to maintenance personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and adjust resources in a hangar environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and strong collaboration skills.

Work Environment

You will work in a large hangar environment alongside a team of approximately 45 employees. The facility focuses on repairing and upgrading helicopters and servicing a fleet that includes air medical, law enforcement, and VIP/corporate aircraft. The work involves installing full air medical, law enforcement, and VIP/corporate kits, components, and avionics packages. The environment is hands-on, with active aircraft maintenance and modification work taking place on the floor. Standard hangar attire and appropriate safety gear are expected, and the workspace emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to established maintenance and quality procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $48.00/hr.
