Lead Helicopter Mechanic (A&P / IA)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Helicopter Mechanic to join our team in Lexington, Kentucky. This position operates within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment and supports maintenance, inspection, and repair operations on a variety of rotorcraft platforms including Bell, Robinson, Airbus, and other turbine and piston helicopters.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, inspection authority experience, and the ability to oversee maintenance operations while ensuring full FAA regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee daily maintenance operations within an FAA Part 145 repair station

Perform and supervise inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on Bell, Robinson, Airbus, and other helicopter platforms

Conduct and approve annual inspections and return-to-service authorizations (IA required)

Ensure all maintenance is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, company manuals, and manufacturer specifications

Review and sign off maintenance documentation and logbook entries

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mechanics and support staff

Coordinate workflow and project timelines with management

Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment

Support customer communication as needed regarding maintenance findings and recommendations
Required Qualifications

FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License – Required

Inspection Authorization (IA) – Required

Strong helicopter maintenance experience (turbine and/or piston)

Experience working in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station

Proven leadership or lead mechanic experience

Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, IPCs, wiring diagrams, and technical data

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Valid driver’s license

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various positions including standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing
Preferred Experience

Experience on Bell 206/407/429

Experience on Robinson R44/R66

Experience on Airbus (H125/H130/H135, etc.)

Experience performing major inspections and heavy maintenance

Experience with rotor track and balance systems
Work Environment
