Position Overview
As a Detail Inspector III, you will inspect components undergoing repair or overhaul to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company requirements. You will evaluate product condition, determine repairability, document inspection findings, and support production through accurate technical and cost assessments.
What You’ll Do
- Determine and document modification status/configuration of products to verify compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
- Ensure products are clean and in acceptable condition prior to inspection.
- Inspect components to determine serviceability and repairability.
- Record inspection results using appropriate documentation systems.
- Generate cost estimates for replacement parts and labor required to complete work instructions.
- Prepare documentation required for repair of unserviceable products.
- Inspect and identify parts within the Reduced to Spares (RTS) process.
- Support and supervise trainees during on-the-job training (OJT).
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the cell.
- Cross-train and support multiple production assignments as required.
- Follow all applicable safety requirements and immediately report unsafe conditions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience using production-related technical publications (e.g., schematics, charts, graphs).
- Basic computer proficiency and experience using production management or ERP systems.
- Ability to complete the Detail Inspector Training & Development Plan.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) approximately 25 of the workday.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
- Must meet US Persons requirements per ITAR.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous aerospace or component inspection experience.
- Knowledge of service-induced conditions and wear patterns on mechanical components.
- Working knowledge of product function and operational characteristics.
- Experience generating repair documentation and cost estimates.
- Proficiency in technical writing.
- Ability to support training and development of other technicians.
