Job Summary:
This is an intermediate-level position requiring a full-time floor inspection presence. The Rotorcraft Quality Inspector plays a crucial role in assisting the Quality Systems Director maintain quality/safety system standards including return-to-service of maintenance required in accordance with (but not limited to) 14 CFR Parts 27, 29, 43, 91, 133, 135 and 145 as applicable.

Essential Duties & Accountabilities:

  • Priority: Maintain a safety-first focus when inspecting to ensure aircraft are in a condition for safe operation.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure thoroughness and accuracy are paramount in early identification and correction of defects/problems during production or installation, reducing waste, rework, and potential liabilities.
  • Ensure Product/Service Quality: Maintain consistent quality and safety standards, leading to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications ensuring alteration (modification) requirements and compliance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using diagnostic and specialized measurement equipment.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Maintain clear and timely communication with colleagues, customers, and management, both verbally and in writing, to report findings and collaborate effectively to aid in preventing maintenance delays, AOG situations, and/or delays in scheduled deliveries.
  • Records Management: Update company or customer aircraft paper-based status sheets or electronic predictive Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) systems.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain detailed, accurate records of all maintenance and inspection to prove airworthiness, including traceability of parts and calibration of precision measuring equipment and test apparatuses.
  • Safety Adherence: Ensure repair environments are safe and compliant with established safety rules, regulations, and protocols to prevent hazards and harm.
  • May require independent work and minimal guidance from management staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree plus 7 years of experience evaluating and applying aviation-related quality principles, methods, and practices.
  • OR High School Diploma plus 10 years of experience evaluating and applying quality-related principles, methods, and practices.
  • OR 6 years Military equivalent experience applying quality-related principles and practices.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • A professional work ethic is mandatory.
  • Must hold a currently effective mechanic certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration with both Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings, held for at least 3 years. Eligible candidates must hold an Inspection Authorization (IA) or be able to obtain an inspection authorization within 12 months.
  • Minimum seven (7) years, ten (10) preferred, of experience applying principles, practices, and standards associated with all levels of aircraft maintenance, repair, and alteration. Civilian rotorcraft preferred.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an above-average understanding of applicable regulations for return to service of maintenance or alterations of articles or specialized services in which Title 14 CFR applies, including manufacturers data, drawings, specifications, and bulletins, or other technical data (rotary wing experience preferred).
  • Must have a working knowledge of aircraft maintenance and inspection procedures to include experience with weight and balance, major repairs/alterations, FAA form 337, and field approvals.
  • Ability to comprehend and process information accurately and timely.
  • Availability: Must be flexible to support changing needs of the operation, to include being available at earlier or later times than normal hours, and able to work weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Occasional travel will be required. May be required to obtain a passport and a visa.
  • MS Word and Excel experience.

  • The employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
